I have a silverface twin that has been modded to be black face And a AC30
The twin has not been used in 5 years!!
My deluxe sounds better then the twin
The AC30 really is godlike for recording!!!!

I have a stedman and love it reduces plosives very well and no high end loss easy to clean and can also help protect you mic's from high spl's I use it on condenser's/ribbons when I am recording loud gtrs and bass as a precaution against people plugging there axe's in and the loud pop that can make ...

it sounds decent. The variable impedance is nice to have.
does not come close to any Api or Neve stuff.
it is made in china but built well
for the money there is probably better stuff out there.

I looked into the angela at one point
they sound good but most need recap and reswitching
so bought a Neotek Elan. . The Elan kick's ass and has been maintainence free. 6-10 grand these days

my old allen heath sytem 8 did that too.
I think it is just oxidation of the pots.
try caig labs deoxit and rotate the pots for a while.

love mine on bass and use it if the bass is wimpy when you are mixing you can overdrive the input of the meek for some svt type crunch.
can be good on some gtrs. dont like it on vocals
