Re: What do you guys use to clean your rubbers? (rubber roll
Al I didnt say that I dont clean my rollers but it was interesting to learn that a million$ studio uses fine sandpaper only. the tech said the studer rubber does not react well to any type of cleaner. made me realize perhaps I dont need to clean my pinch roller as much. too much fantastic, 409 or ru...

Re: What do you guys use to clean your rubbers? (rubber roll
Hey those rubber cleaners can do some harm. the tascam rubber cleaner kinda eats away at the top layer of a roller. I asked the tech @ rockfield in wales what they use on their studers and he said they never clean them. They use very fine sand paper twice a year. I have not tried that myself but the...

Re: Not 1176, LA2A, or distressor
Hey any of the ADR (audio design recording) compressors are great. the Compex, Vocal stressor, express limiter, and the easy rider. they can be very punchy and thick Sort of a 1176 meets a Neve vibe...they have there own sound. John Agnello(J.mascis, sun volt, varnaline etc) mixes all his records thr...

Adr Vocal Stressor
Hi I just got a Adr Vocal Stressor. the thing sounds great but when I turn the input up on the compressor section past 1 (not 1 oclock) it starts to get distorted. I have tried various sources none of which are too hot. turning the output up or down has no effect on the distortion I have it wired pi...

Re: studio insurance?

Hey they are fairly easy to take apart and reload......reload with 456 as 499 and other newer tapes are too thick... take the cart off of the machine. remove the clear plastic part. take a look at how the tape is wound and the where the oxide faces. get rid of the old tape! gently wind some new tape...

Hey
dont run tape with saran wrap on your roller!!
if it's a metal roller just clean it with alcohol. it just may just be tape gunk on there. if its a rubber roller thats gunky you should get a new roller from Tascam directly
