Thanks, the floor does have me worried. As of now are thinking of 2 layers of homasote with greenglue in between below the floor, does that make sense? I don't think we can do poured concrete. I like the idea of 2 windows (one on interior and one on exterior of double stud wall if I am understanding...

Glass Block Windows
I'm building a rooftop addition for band practice, need some windows for light but not necessarily ventilation. I like the look of these, and they seem like a relatively good, cheap middle road option. Walls will be double layer sheetrock with greenglue. Anybody have any experience with these in a s...

Just an honest question-- Have you checked your condo agreement, or run anything past the board on this one? Condos can be tough. It would really suck if you spent money, finally figured-out how to do what you wanted to, but couldn't due to regulations. Likewise your local municipality building cod...

Sounds tough. The only thing in our business that can help other than mass-air-mass is conscientious scheduling. This is a good point. I know I'm not going to get "soundproof". I need to get it good enough so that I can play drums for a few hours a day, and full band practice for a few hours on Sun...

My personal suggestion would be to look at reducing the sound in the first place, via isolation cabinets/direct boxes/amp modelers for your guitars/bass/keys, electronic drums, and headphones/in ears instead of a PA. Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but this just isn't going to ...

New room on ceiling for practice / recording
Hi all, I'm hoping some of you can help me with some questions on construction of a new space. My wife and I own a condo (top two stories) of a ~100 year old wood frame row house. We are planning some renovations to the second (top) floor, and we are also thinking that if we are ever going to add a ...

FS: Yamaha PM1000 4 Channel Preamp
4 Channel Preamp, each channel has input and output control, input and output transformers. Includes an external power supply. I purchased this probably around 2008, if memory serves from a fellow Tape Opper, though I couldn't find the relevant info from my Email or PM Mailbox. Was working fine when...

Repair / Tech in NY / NJ
I have an old Langevin AM1A that someone modded years ago for direct outs, it can be pretty special, but it's got some quirks. I haven't been able to find any schematics, and even if I could I wouldn't know where to begin. Can anyone recommend a great tech in NY / NJ who might be interested in worki...
