Can anyone place the hook/chorus to the first song on the latest Band Of Horses album? The line that goes something like: "When I live alone, is there a ghost in my house." It's a melodic/rhythmic/etc replica of some '80s pop hit (I think female vocal) that's been on the tip of my tongue for months....

Novice: Wiring screw-type connections to TS/TRS patch leads
A UREI equalizer we picked up has the old-style screw-down connectors (three screws: "+/-", "common", and "ground" for each channel, with the input and output sharing the ground screw). Can we wire one end of a patch cable to the in and another to the out of each panel, keeping the other end of our ...

XLR Phase Question
If the XLR output of a preamp is pin-2 hot, and the XLR input of a recorder or mixer is pin-3 hot, is the signal then out of phase once it enters the recorder/mixer? Regardless of microphone/source?
Our A&H board is pin-3 hot; seems like industry standard is pin-2 hot. Thanks.

I started that two-track mixdown thread; we were using an external consumer-grade Sony CD burner with analog phono inputs for rough two-track mixdowns. It sucks. The "analog inputs" are unacceptably noisy. Stay in the box if you already have a good clean way to get you music into said box. If you're...

So maybe this thread's gonna need to be moved to the DAW forum. So far I've left the DAW work to others. But... Xonlocust, your examples of using SMPTE to do edits w/ a computer seem useful. what's the "DP" you refer to? Audiodesk is the software for the MOTU? Similar to PEAK? And it connects to, sa...

Two-Track Mix-down advice/options
We've got a 16-track 1" setup going through an A&H board. We do some transfers with a portable rig, but rough mixes here are being mixed down to...a consumer stand-alone CD burner. Main suckiness is that the CD burner doesn't have balanced XLR inputs, and the XLR --> 1/4" --> phono adapters add nois...

There's another Blood & Fire reissue that's essentially vocal versions of all the Termination Dub cuts: Sylford Walker & Welton Irie - Lamb's Bread International You couldn't ask for sicker chants and early dancehall stylings over what are some of my favorite Glen Brown/Tubby rhythms ever. Also on m...
