Kayagum might appreciate this more than most. I rented this spot for a few days to record an EP for a great Minneapolis band The Butcher's Bag. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:JJHHAttic.jpg Their sound was somewhere between Man Man and Tom Waits. It seemed to be a perfect fit. It wasn't cheap, but...

I'll look further into the Audiofire 12. My ideal scenario is a single unit/interface that'll handle 24 channels, primarily to run all 24 channels from my Trident board directly into the MacPro. A pair of Audiofire 12s may be the ticket, too. I think I'm down to either those or the MOTU 24I/o w/ PCI...

So what EXACTLY is this mod, how does it work, who does it, and how much does it cost? I'm very curious.

I wouldn't be opposed to modding it at some point down the road if it makes that big of a difference. And I wouldn't be using it with my ol' Powerbook (on which I fried the Firewire port with the 400F). I have a MacPro. And it looks like it comes with the PCIe card. Correct?

How does this look, guys?

Any red flags? I know some folks love MOTU and others don't.

That question comes up at my store every now and then. The dedicated ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics card in the $1499 21.5" iMac works with OpenCL, so, using Snow Leopard, you'd be able to take advantage of that powerful graphics card for processing while using Logic, etc. The bottom end $1199 iMac jus...

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions. I'll start going through all of these and seeing if there's a good match. A few of the suggestions had interfaces with preamps. Is there ANY benefit to having those if I have 24 Trident preamps and a hodgepodge of various outboard preamps? Furthermore, am I u...

Oh, and I'm totally open to getting a pair of 12 channel converters or two or three 8 channel converters. Whatever combination works.

Thanks again.

Can't find 16 or 24 in Firewire interface. Why?!

So here's my dilemma. A few years ago I purchased two Mackie Onyx 400Fs, wanting the four pres and four line inputs on each to give me some flexibility and sixteen channels into our MacPro. Then a couple months later we were blessed with a 24 channel Trident board. Obviously the pres in that are far...

So many different opinions here. But one thing is certain: I'm going into my studio to start making my drum kit sound better (hopefully) right now. There's hope for me yet.

I just turn my ceiling fan on. That works great. In a not-so-great sort of way, that is.
