Re: Fuses blowing

No smoke as far as I know, and it was just one of the three fuses that protect those six big 6550 tubes. Each of the last couple of times it blew, it was the far left fuse (when you're looking at the tubes from the back of the amp). This is a newer version Sunn 300T, made after Fender bought Sunn ou...

Fuses blowing

Okay, so there are three fuses that protect the six 6550 tubes on my Sunn 300T. The furthest left of these fuses blew twice yesterday. The head is set to 4 ohms, which my 8-10 cabinet is rated, so what would cause this problem? I'd like to get this problem resolved quickly as I am in the middle of a...

Need: decent power amp

If you have a reasonably priced power amp that is capable of delivering at least 800 watts of power to a bridged 4 ohm cabinet and would be willing to sell it to me for a reasonable price, please let me know.... If you know of a used one that you've seen at a shop, please let me know..... Thanky kin...

Re: Power amps, suggestions?

I've been thinking of using my Gallien Krueger 700RB and SansAmp Bass Driver unit as preamps into something like a Crown K1 or Macrotech ..... I've been reading that Mackie's m1400i is really good for the money, but I don't know if I'd be losing a ton of sound quality potential if I buy a more budge...

Power amps, suggestions?

I'm thinking of supplementing my bass rig with a power amp. I'd like to hear which ones people like and dislike and why.

Re: Artist Friendly Cities:Where's an affordable place to li

You'll probably laugh when I say this, but Salt Lake City has a thriving music scene with everything from shoegazer indie rock to hard edged math rock. There are several touring groups in town. There's a very supportive scene, there are lot of people with a wide variety of tastes who actually go out...

tape machines, tape speed, and sound

How much does the type of tape machine you are using for a recording affect the final sound? For example, if I were to use a Studer 2" tape machine at 15 IPS for a session and then a comparable Otari 2" tape machine at 15 IPS with the same microphone arrangement for both sessions, how much will the ...

Bass player - think Jesus Lizard, Birthday Party, Rapeman

I've thought of moving closer to my family in Chicago and would like to see what kind of musicians I could possibly get involved with if I did choose to do so. I've been playing bass for the past twelve years and touring rigorously for the last five. My style of bass playing is very atypical in that...

Re: What do you think of these drum levels?

Thanks for reaffirming my original concerns. My band just recorded some new tunes with the drums a bit further down in the mix and I think everything meshes much more nicely. Although I'm happy enough (at this point, I have to be) with that mix, I'll have to chalk that tune and the rest of the tunes...
