Re: The AC 30 that I'll never forget...boo hoo
I have a AC 30 from 1964 - It does sound amazing! BUT mine does not have the original speakers in it. So I have to crank mine to get that amazing crunch you are talking about also. Did the one you try have the original speakers? That could be all the difference in the world right there. But I am not...

Re: 15 ips Vs 30 ips
Thansk for the insight into this. I have been learning a ton from this board!
Also how important is noise reduction when using analog?
Can you get away without using it at all? Or do most people swear by it?

15 ips Vs 30 ips
Hi- I was just wondering what are some major differences between running your machine at 15 or 30 ips (besides the speed, obviously)? What speed is quieter and why? What speed produces a better quality and why? Well if anyone can shed some light on this for me that would be a big help. Thanks a lot.

Re: RELAPING HEADS?
Thanks Al - the reason I asked was because I was looking at getting this MS-16 and the guy who is selling it already had the heads relaped and he has the paper work from the place that did it but he thinks they might need another. Now I am not so sure about getting it. How much would it be to get al...

RELAPING HEADS?
Hi- I wanted to know how many times you can have the heads relaped on a 16 track machine before you need to get a new head stock? Also how low can you let them get before getting a relap (IE: If the heads have 60% life left is it time for a relap) and is there a standard amount you should always get...

Re: Taproot guitar tone
Well - not that I know anything about this band but I would bet a lot of money that all the guitars are being triple tracked when they record and that is why you are hearing all the different tones.
I am not sure you would be able to get such a tone out of one guitar at one time.

Re: EXTRA A/D INPUTS for Digi 001 ?
yea that helps a lot. I now have a better idea of what I should be loking at. Have you ever heard anything about the Presonus Digimax LT ? And should I not be looking at a box that also is a set of Preamps? I am sure getting the preamps and not just the a/d will cost a bit more. What are your though...

Re: EXTRA A/D INPUTS for Digi 001 ?
Erik Wofford: Thanks for the clear explanation on the wow and flutter issue. That is what I thought was going on when I tried to line up all my traks. I also had a few sessions where I was editing everything back so it would stay in time and there was NO WAY I was going to do that for an albums wort...

Re: EXTRA A/D INPUTS for Digi 001 ?
The reason I do not just dump 8 in at a time is becasue I didn't think they would line up? I have been having some wow and flutter issues with my 8 track. That is why I am upgrading to the 16 track so I don;t have to deal with it. About the AI3? Where can I get one? So you think it is a better A/D b...
