Compression BEFORE or AFTER ???
I am somewhat new to recording and in particular about compression and how to use it properly to get the sounds I want. My question is. What is the difference if I do not print compression on a drum or bass track as opposed to doing that later when I could use someone elses higher end compressor and...

Re: Drum Fix PROGRAM - Protools??
Thanks for the suggestions. I like the idea of maybe trying to use a soundreplacer to trigger a snare sample....however I have no idea how or what to use to accomplish this. Can you help me out. Please explain. Icould play the beat on a counter top correctly and that will trigger the snare hits so t...

Re: Recommend some mics for recording Acoustic guitar...
Neumann KM-84 (first introduced in 1966) I know they reissued them as the KM-184 and I do not know how they compare to the KM-84. I have a matched pair of KM-84's and they are GREAT on acoustic guitar (they seem to get EVERYTHING) from hi's to low's and everything in-between. You can put it up in fr...

Drum Fix PROGRAM - Protools??
I know I just saw a post on this the last week or so but as many have mentioned before the search engine on this site does not really let you narrow things down, so I could not find it again. Anyway..... I am not the best drummer and I am tracking a song that has long drum roll parts and I can't kee...

Re: ad/da converters (8)
Thanks for the other options. Here is another question for you guys. Digi 001 has 8 converters and I need to get 8 more. Assuming the new 8 I get are better than the converters in Digi 001.... Will I hear a difference between the 8 tracks going trough Digi and the 8 that will go through a better box...

Re: ad/da converters (8)
This might be a dumb question but......... Will I really hear a difference if I pay $1000 for "better" ad/da converters ??? I just don't really get how one box can sound that much better when we are talking ad/da converters . But like I said before I don't know anything about them. i don't know what...

Re: ad/da converters (8)
That is a good question. I am also looking for the same thing and have come across a Behringer ADA8000 (as reviewed in the newest TapeOp mag). It is about $200 and will work with your digi 001. Now as far as how good it sounds - I have no idea. I did not get one yet but I am thinking about it. I don...

Portable Phantom Power Supply
I want to be able to use my KM84 with my portable reel to reel recorder so I need a portable phantom power supply. I almost bought one but then I noticed that with the batteries it only gives out something like 17 volts - So my question is. Hom many volts do I need to power a KM84 and what is a good...

CEILING TREATMENT IDEA
I have been reading a lot about small rooms and how to "treat" them. And I have an idea I want to try out on the small box-like room I will be tracking drums in but I do not want to go through all the trouble if my idea will do nothing in making the room sound better (whatever that really means).......

Hey Dave.
Do you have satellite radio?
I got it (in my car) and I love it and I couldn't agree with you more that it will be the way most people listen to radio in the future. But maybe that should be a new thread.

I have not heard some of the new stuff by them but the older stuff has a very sad and heavy vibe. I'm sorry for your loss..
