Re: Getting "Big" sounds
Well I never could get electric guitars to soung "BIG" untill I got a Vintech preamp. Not exactly sure why that is but I know Neve always gets talk about having a big bottom end so that could be it. So my vote would be the gear.

Re: I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
YHF is maybe the most overrated album of the decade.
Still the movie is pretty cool.

Re: Big Star; what am I missing?
Yea my friend freaks out over them and always would want me to listen to them but everytime I do I just want to turn it off. Very uninspiring for me I guess. For me it sounds like a band that is trying to hard. Not sure what they are trying to hard at but just that they are.....know what I mean? Mark.

Re: Soundelux U195 VS. BLUE Mouse
Great to hear that I can't really lose either way I go.
I whish I could listen to both mics before I buy one but I am not sure if I can find a place that sells both and has a 100% satisfaction guarantee return policy. I can't wait to hear them. Well again thanks for the input.

Soundelux U195 VS. BLUE Mouse
I am about to buy a higher end mic that can be used on more than just one application. So both of these mics seem to be what I might be looking for. The price is about right and from what I have read I could use either on a lot of different things and get great results. I just wanted to know if ther...

Re: Just got my new mic pre...anyone else have one of these?
I see that you can it with a Mod that gives it 60db of gain. Is this better? And will it change the sound at all? If you could get one with the Mod or not what one would be the better buy and why? I am going to get one but just not sure if I should get the extra 60db of gain. Let me know what you th...

Re: Brent Averill 1272 DIFFERENCE
Thanks again for the info - I wish I knew how yo build stuff! Well I don't know if I do want to drop that much on a pre so to cut some cost I was thinking of going with the Vintech - Is this a dramatic DOWNGRADE as far as sound goes or would this be a good call on my part to save some cash but still...

Re: Brent Averill 1272 DIFFERENCE
thanks. Well I see that is says: power supply (when available) BUT I do not see anywhere about a power supply being $200. But I will take another look. How does his copy sound compared to the real thing? Is it really worth the extra $400 to get the higher priced one or is the difference slight and s...

Brent Averill 1272 DIFFERENCE
I was looking on the Brent Averill website because I was intersted in getting a 1272 mic pre - HOWEVER I am a bit confused at what he has to offer. There is a 1272 for $1,859.00 Two channel with power supply and what seems to be the same thing for $1,659.00 ??? I have read the descriptions on both a...

Re: Jet and Brooklyn's Own
The questions I asked Dave about how many records he has recorded was not meant to be an attack towards him at all. Sorry if it came across that way. And it was a question out of pure curiosity that really had nothing to do with this thread. The reason I asked was because he posted: soundguy wrote: ...

Re: recording on drugs
Apparently a lot of Neutral Milk Hotel songs were written after Jeff Mangum stayed up for several days in a row. I could never do it myself. 10 hours is about the longest I can stay awake at one time. Well I have never taken drugs (well I was on morphine drip 1 time after I had my large intestine r...

Re: Jet and Brooklyn's Own
Let's face it - This band blows. A good sounding record or tight playing does not make you a good band in my opinion. Good songs do. Hell if you put out a shit sounding record and you can hardly play your instuments but your songs are good, well then you are a good band. How many bands have you hear...
