I perhaps wasn't clear, I think what I am trying to say is based on the niavety of most musicians, they don't know your credentials just like you don't know thiers (thus why I agree with someone on another thread running that you should screen the bands your working with before you record them, hear...

I remember when I was a wee budding drummer in Junior High and I went to my first recording studio. Not as a client, but a spectator. I sat quietly a listened and watched, and really could see the difference in all the adjustments he (the engineer) was making. Of course a 13 year old kid won't get i...

It just mocks the insecure. That's the problem. Treat your artists- ALL OF THEM- like they are rock stars and you'll never have a problem. Keep them as the focus of the session. In particular, just like the press, never become friends with the client. There is much truth and wisdom in this statemen...

Worked at Tower Records in the U-Dist for a year from February 95'-March 96' and a lot of people came through their, by far my favorite was Money Mark (B-Boys keyboard player), he is one laid back cat and really easy to talk to. Also Chris Baloo came in there, and we almost pulled off a Wesley Willi...

Looking to finish an album.

Hey,
We're looking to top off our album with the final three songs on our list. Our facilities will not do, so anyone up to the pepsi unchallenge?

Cheers,
Rick

Great to be back, and hopin' someone is eager for some work.

Hey all, Board looks great! So now on to business... We are wanting to finish our album, and we have three songs left. We have been working with Brandon Busch at Sound Media in North Seattle, but are looking to go somewhere still local, but maybe more in our price range. So far we are seven songs in...

Re: What did you major in?

I went to AIS, majored in Audio Engineering (yeah, I learned more about audio working at Tower Records, and that's sad), but I worked as an intern as a grip at B. Lang for a few months, and then went on full time at Pro-Line and learned plenty. But I always wanted to major in Political Science, I do...

Re: Hippies Take Over Manhattan!

Saw disco biscuits at the tractor. 7$ on a wenesday and they sold the place out! Couldn't get the nag champa off my coat for weeks! This was like 5 years ago, so I imagine it's more than 7 dollards to see them now. I would hope.

Tubes... Your Picks?

Question, My bass players SWR just went out, and he wants to get a fatter tone out of his amp, any suggestions on tubes that may help him out in that respect? I told him groove tubes are a good standard, but he wants a really thick rich (why am I describing coffee for him?) sound. So in your capable...

Re: jazz drumming question

Typically in Jazz, from my skewed and limited understanding of it, the drums aren't the back bone for the phrase so much as the bass is really. So it's more flavor, not to mention you don't really want to piss off your horn section stepping all over thier dicks by crowning them out. But it also depe...
