"Layback" Mastering
I have been curious about this technique since I read it somewhere (which I can't remember). Anyways, do you know anything about this? I'm asking because, first I love the sound of analog recordings, but my studio gear is very simple and on the cheap side, so I don't have great sounding pre's or mic...

Mix is good overall. Tracking on the drums sounds nice! EQ could be a little less bright (personal preference) Nice work. Perhaps someone with more experience could offer you more usefull advice, but it translated ok on my cruddy speakers. Thanks for listsning. I don't think the EQ is bright at all...

Opinion on this mix!

Let me know what you think of the mix http://www3.telus.net/public/tomasdc/mp3/01%20Butterfly%20Eyes.mp3 You can hear some more at www.automataworld.ca ANy comments ar...

Justin, I really appreciate your comments. I get the same feeling with the piano. It did cross my mind asking the piano player to give it another go. It is a bit too much going on. I'll see if I get him to do this... (I also now realize that this is what he is doing live, well its all improvised, bu...

Thanks for the feedback mane.
I updated the song, now with piano and vocals added. Any suggestions on the mix are welcomed, I already noticed some things that need to be fixed.

ned-Character is what I'm looking for. Justin- Thanks for your comments and I understand exactly what you are saying. I think when I get the the piano and vocals in you'll get a better idea of the song, so hopefully that will bring something more to the song as such (well, I have 11 songs I'm workin...

Thanks man, It is nice to get some feedback. Yes, I'm an amateur myself, but I have tried to avoid any EQ. I mean I tried to get the right sound from the basic tracks. I tried lots of alternatives to get a fat but clear sound (for all instruments) I will get the rest of the tracks (for a total of 11...

(UPDATED) My frist full band recording!!
This is one song out of 11. I just finished the guitars, and still some piano and vocals to record. I would say I'm not really recording the way it is supposed to. I like acoustic sounds noises and simple performance. Basically I want a roomy live feel. Any comments would be useful. http://www3.telu...

Fantastic! I really like the music and the recording is very good and unique. I'm doing the same thing producing and recording my own band album. I hope I can get as good sound as you have achieved. The only thing I would add, is that there seem to be some inconsistencies in the style of each mix. F...

Ok, I'm in. I just had my first session recording drums at my spot. One mic over the kit, speaker cab as kick mic. This is the raw track. I haven't done anything to it yet. What would you suggest? DivShare File - 11-AudioTrack 11.mp3 Talk about stealing a thread. OK, Your recording sounds good, but...

Josh, Thanks for your comments. I do have a nother version with a shorter ring. I'll try both with the rest of instruments that I haven't done yet (Dobro, acoustic Bass, organ) and see how it works with the full band. I don't wnat a really wide mix, but I can get it to be wider for sure. I didn't us...

My first drum recording
I'm doing a home made album, and ventured fro the first time into recording drums. I'm a guitar player and have that figured, but drums is the frist time. I have very basic gear and recorded using a PreSonus Inspire and GarageBand. I used the Mid-Side techinque with a Figure 8 Cascade Fat Head Ribbo...

Recording in the bathroom!
Hey, This is a straight Blues recorded with one microphone (Fat head Ribbon) in my basement bathroom. I like it, but maybe using 2 microphones would work better. I was looking for some sort of old 1920 kind of recording, but with a clean modern sound... (or so I think)... So, the recording is live o...
