FS: TEAC 3340

Hi, I'm selling a TEAC 3340. Everything is functional and it has recently been serviced. The only thing that is not stock is the power cable. The previous owner lost it so I made one. Sorry, but I don't have the manual. Will include some blank RMG tape. Asking $300 plus $70 to ship, and we can handl...

Hey folks,

any chance someone has acquired a .pdf of the Operator's Manual for a TEAC 3340? I'd really appreciate it if someone could pass that along.

Thanks.

Wow, there is an incredible wealth of information in this thread...it is very much appreciated. I'm very into learning the mechanics of the machine inside and out, and since I scored it for such a low price, it wouldn't destroy me emotionally if I had to drop another couple hundred into it to get it...

I haven't yet used the machine to record, but I was using a prerecorded reel tape, and when the outputs to tracks 2 and 4 (or the the rear channels on this machine) were turned up, it sounded like the tape was running backwards or something. When I turned down those outputs and turned up 1 and 3 (th...

Head alignment specs for a TEAC 3340

Does anyone have the head alignment specs for a TEAC 3340 Simul-Sync four-track? I scored one really cheap and I've got everything working perfectly except for a tiny misalignment of the heads.

If anyone has manuals they want to scan or sell, I'm all ears and eyes as well.

Thanks!

I own a TEAC 2340, a 3300sx, and a Model 3 Mixer. I love these machines. Very affordable and very good quality. They're for people like me, hobbyist engineers who have the occasional job of recording demos for other bands. With a good amount of upkeep and a good knowledge of how-to, you shouldn't ha...

When I was younger (aka, a few years ago) I blindly loved a number of punk rock and hardcore bands.

I know better now, and few of those records from my "poseur" period are left over.

I usually record everything I do with my own band(s) or other bands live to 2-track, but when I get the chance to multi-track... I second guess myself all the time when I mix anything because I just want the "client" (usually just a friend with tape) to be happy. I've found I think it sounds better ...

Nothing worse than identical parts on two guitars as far from the middle as possible. um, why? that's like every metal song ever. indeed, there is a time and a place for everything. even fretless bass and kazoos! Personal preference for the most part. To me it sounds a little more cohesive to my ea...

Fugazi has some really cool hard-panned guitar stuff going on in a few songs. ATDI had some cool hard-panning too.

If the guitars play well off of one another, then hard pan...but use sparingly. Nothing worse than identical parts on two guitars as far from the middle as possible.

I don't know if there's multi-tracks to these, but you can look into them: Robbie Fulk's 13 Hillbilly Giants The Coctails' first two records and maybe the third. I heard a lot of old SST shit (especially with SPOT) was done live-to-2 then mixed down and multi-tracked over or something. Still cloudy ...

I'm a big Rapeman fan and I've never heard anything of alternate mix.

Ask the nice folks over on the Electrical forum, just keep any fanboydom down so no one will get smart.

Beefheart. Beefheart. Beefheart. I'm becoming quite a zealot for the man and his Magic Band as of late. Took a long time and a lot of initial patience, but the pay off is unbelievable.
