Sure, this is a pretty common thing to do! If anything, I'd be surprised if the majority of tape projects weren't done kind of like this nowadays. Of course, plenty of folks will do just one or the other: Record to tape, but print mixes back in digitally; or record to PT, and then loop through a 2-t...

I did a pretty comprehensive review of these for SonicScoop a little while back.
My choice would probably be RX2.

Try Oktaven in Yonkers. That's really at the very bottom of the Hudosn Valley I suppose, but a killer piano and mic collection. Potentially closer to you, Quad Lakeside in Greenwood Lake is a good bet. And if Waterbury CT isn't too far of a treck, Power Station New England is a nail-for-nail recreat...

Multitracks are your best bet by far. You can kinda sometimes remove vocals from mixes with spectral analyzers like RX2, Spectral Layers and R-Mix. It's not perfect, and there's often some subtle ghosting, but in some cases it can work surprisingly well. There's also Vocal Eraser by Izotope/Sony. Bu...

We can definitely agree on that last bit! Ultimately, if anyone wants to understand the reasons why currency systems are used worldwide and compare that with the pros and cons of the barter system, they can just open a microeconomics textbook. Anyone who wants to understand the reasons why currency ...

The illusion that they have some value, has some value. That is all. Absolutely true of any currency. But it's a pretty damn powerful illusion. If ya live life as if that illusion were a reality, you'd do pretty well for yourself. At least where the physical necessities of living are concerned: Foo...

You do know that our currency is worthless, right? When you can generate infinitely more of something with no effort, it is worth zero. If you can generate genuine US currency infinitely with no effort, please send me some. A few million $ will do. Thanks. This is pretty much what I was thinking! E...

When you can generate infinitely more of something with no effort, it is worth zero. Kind of like house music? Fuck. This thread is going to turn into that other thread in no time. Nah. At least not from me. I'm all tuckered out. Money may be a lie, but it's a useful one. Especially around the firs...

Well, it sounds like we agree on a lot then! I guess our only real sticking point is the definition of "planned obsolescence." The results on the first page of Google say things like this: "A method of stimulating consumer demand by designing products that wear out or become outmoded after limited u...

when I see important information missing I have a deep compulsion to throw it out there. You didn't, though. Not until later in the conversation. Really. Go back to your first post on this topic (half-way down page 3) and take a look. That's true: I didn't write a thousand word refutation of the fi...
