I'd probably like to have Kaby Lake played at my funeral... it's a song that my brother and I wrote together. It was a good time, and it was a great process of recording it. =)

Making my own album has changed my life... I feel more confident in that I actually finished something that daunted me for SO long. Here's a sneak peak: http://yrlk.bandcamp.com The full record will be released 3/11/11. I'm excited to share it with others. =) Thanks for listening. Brad | YRLK Detroi...

I'm actually listening to something I produced... that may sound weird, but I actually do really like it.

If you like it, pass it on! There's a lot more variety on the full record... trust me.

My debut record...
Hello TapeOp Friends: I don't really know which song to pick from the record to show you... I'm pretty proud of all of them. My brother Neal and I (Brad) wrote these songs, and I arranged and performed all the instruments *with the exception of performing the string parts* for the entire record. I d...

Self-produced record... free listen and download.
I've been reading TapeOp for a few years now, and I'm constantly inspired by pretty much every page. It's one of the few things I completely look forward to finding in the mail. =) Using many of the pieces of equipment and techniques discussed in TapeOp and on this forum, I am now about to release m...

Light bulb dead / burned out on LA-610, 6176, or 2-1176?
Like many, the power light on my UA rack was burned out. http://www.ledlight.com/ba9s-short-round-led-light.aspx This is an LED-based replacement for the bulb that reads "1819" on its metal siding. They're cheap, they shipped fast to me, and now my 2-1176 has a (LONG lasting) light again. I would re...

Coolest studio I've ever seen...
I've now worked on 3 projects at this studio in Michigan, and I'm just amazed at how comfortable and EASY it is to record there.
Seriously, check out the pictures: www.theaashrum.com
The owner actually recorded at JackPot! Studios back in the day, so that's kind of a cool fact too. =)

FS: Korby KAT 47
Hello All, This is the real deal... a beautiful (and barely used) condition Korby Kat 47 head for the convertible system. After getting to know the 47 sound extensively, I now realize that it's just not my thing. It doesn't fit the general style that I produce (of my own stuff or others') right now,...

All I can say is that the PR-40 (not 48???) is an EXCELLENT microphone on kick drum. It is extremely eq'able, and in my experience, it captures significantly more body and (at times) sustain of the kick drum. Truthfully, it starts to sound much more natural and real while also getting bigger than mo...
