cascade fat head II lundahl transformers

i bought a pair of these on craigslist today for 500 bucks. it's not a steal or anything, but boy do i like them, so far, on acoustic guitar, mellow male vocal, banjo, mandolin, resonator guitar, tambourine, electric guitar and boxy cheap ladder braced acoustic guitar---a 50s Kay. the fat head II's ...

foam is fine!

Maybe rigid fiberglass is the best, but I have had great luck with the 2'x2' panels I made of 2" wedge foam glued to 1/4" board. I can hang them from mic stands and make a portable vocal booth or gobos. I have hang them strategically on walls and ceilings to control reflection and echo. i think they...

thanks...

Thanks for the helpful replies. I have done the CHUD thing. I have switched to TRS to XLR. I have tried TRS to TRS. The computer noise issue is still there, though it seems to be quieter. I am now wondering if my NS10 monitors are having shielding issues. Mine are the older, vertical NS10M models. I...

one more thing...

There is no noise in the headphone output. And the noise in the main monitors is there whether or not anything is plugged into the headphone jack. I have replaced the power supply once in the Digi 002R, and it was also modded by Black Lion Audio (the old original mod; I'd like to try the new mod soo...

thanks for the helpful replies. I am using 1/4" cables to my monitor amp----there are no balanced xlr outs on a Digi 002R.

My amp is an old Yamaha P2200 into NS10s---I wonder if my amp needs going through?

Hmmm...

Computer Noise in Digi 002r Monitor Outputs

I just got a nice new iMac with 8gb RAM and Pro Tools is running nice and fast and pretty smooth. But I have a big problem---there is a ton of computer noise---whirring, I can hear every move I make with the mouse through the monitors. I am using NS10s with a Yamaha P-2200 amp. I've played around wi...

002R pres, post BLA mod

I am really happy with the mod on the mic pres on my Digi 002R. I don't have any outboard pres to compare them to, but taking my tracks to David Henry at Truetone in Nashville and hearing playback through his Apogee Rosetta 800 and his sweet audiophile monitor/amp combo made me happy I had the mod d...
