Re: stealing other artist's work
If the Post Office finds out and has a problem with it, I believe the issue will be hers, not yours. Just because you made it, doesn't really mean you'll get in trouble. She's the one taking a risk. I may use an image on the cover of a record that isn't mine. I've tried other images, but the nicked...

Buy the Neumann
Buy the Neumann, the financial stress will only last a short time but the mic will last a lifetime. If you take good care of it, it is just like having some extra cash in the bank except you get to enjoy it. The Sputnik might be a good mic but no match in long term value or pleasure.

seperating Leslie
I did this once with a Baldwin Leslie. My approach was a bit more savage than the previous poster's. I put a power cord on the motor and a 1/4 jack on the back panel for the speaker. Yanked the rest out, kept the tubes for my guitar rigs and sold the amp on ebay. The organ had issues so I basically ...

I gigged with a Renown for years, a single 12" 160 watt model with electronic reverb/delay. It ALWAYS worked, even after being knocked off the stage to the cement floor 6 feet below while it was ON (I kept on playing!). I liked it for the country band I was in, lots of clean power. If the speakers a...

Dead mics
You will see photos of the Dead playing in FRONT of the house PA with those mics. They were using an Alembic system, a giant wall of speakers and the mics were out of phase to cancel feedback. Anything that was the same to both mics was canceled so they sung from the side towards one mic and it work...

Tele wiring
This should be very simple. Plug a cord into the output jack and touch one side of your ohm meter to the metal case of the jack. Or just touch the ground on the jack, harder to keep your hand still here tho. You should show a short by touching the bridge of the guitar with the other lead. No? Just b...

My 1963 LG-0 arrived today. It is amazing. I dated the serial and it is indeed a 1963. I really took a chance with this via eBay but the seller was really honest and cool, lots of phone contact, etc. I really lucked out. I'm having a local luthier/repair guy who I trust (Pete over at South Jersey G...

Re: Whats the secret to get a good clean recording no hiss
Not to sound like an asshole but you might be much happier just selling everything and getting one of those little all in one digital recorders that has the guitar stuff built in and a couple of XLRs with phantom power. That's what he's got. Look here. I don't think you will ever be able to get thi...

giant mix for newbie
I would start with the kick. Get a great kick sound, experiment with compression and see if it helps. You don't have to use it. Add the bass guitar. If the bass and the kick collide, use subtractive EQ to fit the bass around the kick. Be careful with frequencies from 100-150hz, can be very muddy in ...

Whats the secret to get a good clean recording no hiss
The plastic adaptor for 1/4 to RCA is an evil, cheap abomination. In general, RCA plugs and jacks are to be avoided. Equipment that uses them, with few exceptions is barely adequate for consumer home stereo equipment. Also, I don't know if this has changed but Tascam equipment used to all be -10db u...

recording too noisy
Shut your computer and monitor off and find out!! Yes, computers and monitors generate energy fields that can cause hum in audio, lots of hum. If you don't need the computer on, leave it off when you record. If you do need it on, move your audio stuff as far away as possible, especially the guitars.
