Online Back-up recommendations

Up until they lost all my data and their app stopped working, I was a happy Gobbler user. I am searching for a replacement that integrates nicely into my workflow. I loved how Gobbler would get triggered from a save as opposed to me having to copy files over to some cloud managed directory, a la Goo...

FS: AT4047sv

AT4047sv w/shockmount. This is in mint condition. I literally used this 2-3 times. I held it for a year thinking I would use it. I haven't. I'll sell for $600 or best offer...

Removing noise floor from spoken word via SM7

I know the SM7s need juice and I usually can minimize the noise floor with louder vocals. This time, I had a client who was doing a mellow spoken word thing and liked the sound of the SM7. I have the SM7 going through an Avalon 737 cranked to almost full input and output. To combat the noise between...

This is super helpful for a newbie. Thanks! Here is what I am dealing with: http://whiteninjastudio.com/music/pear/Masters/Shelter-6-27-12.mp3 I found the main frequencies that the guy is singing in and boosted those. I also did some slight cuts of the same frequencies on the guitars which are prett...

Thanks for the advice. I recorded the bass last but I tend to overdo the guitars to give the music more energy.

Need some vocal EQ pointers

I am really lousy at dialing in good vocals. I looked around here and I couldn't find some good threads. Can you kindly point me to some good stuff? The pop stuff I listen to seems very trebley with the lows cut significantly. My vocals are probably battling with the heavier guitars. What I am doing...

I need help with the mix

I would love to get your feedback on this:

I feel like the vocals need to stand out more or be EQ'd more into the mix. Thanks!

Yeah, I am in a square home studio with no treatment. This has been helpful. I am definitely going to pursue some sound treatment options to help with the vocals. I feel like that is the missing piece that is hurting my recordings. I have some money to spend so I may look for something like a SM-7 o...

All,

Thanks for the suggestions. I should clarify that my issue is with female vocalists on the 4050. I miss some of the brightness. It seems to do well for male vocalists who have a lower register but this may all be a user error.

Regards,

Solid vocal mic under 1k

I am sure this has been covered before so please send me the links to the threads. I looked around before posting. Anyway, I am looking for a killer vocal mic that I can pair with my Avalon 737 for my home studio. I don't do many sessions but I want a versatile mic for all types of singers that won'...

Renting mics - does this happen?

This may be a dumb question but I am looking to borrow a killer vocal mic for a few days. It would be great to see how it compares with my mics.

Is this totally unrealistic or do people/places actually rent out mics?

Thanks,

C
