foam baffles around cymbals?

I think I saw this in a past issue of TapeOp ... the engineer put semicircular foam baffles around the cymbals, not touching them, to keep the cymbals out of the room mics. Anyone know who the engineer is, or have a photo? I'm trying to devise something similar.

The beige 280's usually have silicon transistors. However, I have a pair of beige 280's with germanium transistors, so either they were swapped or some of the early beige ones used germanium.
