Try rolling back your drivers for the Deltas.
I've found some of the older drivers to be more stable.

I use Reaper with it's native sampler plugin and midi editing.
I have way too many drum samples.

Yup.
Then pan them opposite of each other in the mix.
Old metal trick that's been around since stereo.

Close mic the kit. Someone will kill me for saying this but... forget the room mic. When you record the vocalist, either record him onto two tracks simultaneously or have him do the screaming and the singing in different takes. That'll make it easier to get good compression settings for each type of...

Thanks SpaceEcho. Question: Why do you choose to limit to -.1 vs -.01? With .01 (one hundtedth of a dBfs) you're not really leaving a lot of head room for the cheap converters, where as .1 (one thnth of a dBfs) there's more room below the distortion poing, yet it's still plenty close to stay "loud....

Limiting to -0.01

Okay so when I'm "mastering" my mixes (not a pro, just a dork with no money) I've been limiting them to -0.01. I started doing this because I read somewhere (possibly here) that some converters in CD players will clip on CDs that have peaks at 0. Anyone have any objections or insight into this pract...

step 1: scream very loud step 2: compress planes mistaken for stars' vocals have gone down hill with every record. their first one isn't so bad.. but once they decided to get a heavier "in your face" sound it became pathetic. the weaker the vocals got the more they tried covering it up with doubled...

Yeah, I use two of the Delta 44s and I've got them down to 2ms in Reaper. Reaper also provides for a manual input and output offset in ms or samples to tweak latency to perfection (I'm sure the other DAWs have something similar). Sonar does auto latency compensation, even for overdubs, its great, n...

What do you mean by monitoring through your hardware? I think I do the same, but I just want to clarify. I can monitor all my FX while I record/mix. Lots of hardware will allow you to monitor the inputs without the signal passing through your DAW software, Thus there is virtualy no Latency. If you ...

For some reason, whenever someone asks about guitar solos, a bunch of songs off of "Brothers at Arms" come to mind.

Voting for Reaper.
I've heard people say that the MIDI is skimpy but I make electronic music and Reaper can do everything I need it to.

The other cool thing is that it's so customizable, you can make it feel almost
like any other host you like.
