Cool, thanks!
I was trying to download the datasheet off Mouser but it was timing out on me...

NE5534N versus NE5534NG?
I'm about to buy some spare chips for my board. It uses NE5534N throughout but on Mouser they have NE5534NG.
Are these the same form factor? Any problems with using these?
Thanks.

Hey John, I never got around to ordering the Acopian supply for my 501 console but now have to money so I'm going to do it soon. I'd love it if you could dig up some of the info on yours, it might make it a bit easier when ordering. Ben--- The 501 uses regulated +/-15v (2A), unregulated +/-24V (2A) ...

The SS30 is one of the only string synths I can think of that's velocity sensitive. I've had my eyes out for one for many years as well. I wish some modern manufacturer would make a midi rackmount velocity sensitive analog string synth. A lot of these old string synths didn't even have pitchbend, so...

Gik bass traps have a wood frame around the edges with an open back. There is an air cavity 2 inches or so between the back of the fiberglass and the edge of the frame. This spaces it out from the wall so you can hang them flush... no need for spacers. The back of the fiberglass is wrapped in cloth ...

Hi RJ, how's the restoration coming along? Did you finish recapping the power supply?
There's a guy on the Analogue Heaven list in Florida selling a CS-60 parts machine for $350, just posted today. You can search for today's messages at

Another good route to go, and the one I would choose were I starting out in modulars, is to get a semi-modular synth (like a Cwejman, Evenfall Mini-Modular, patched out Arp Avatar or 2600... there are a few newer ones out too that I know little about) and then start a rack to add more exotic modules...

I love string synths and think they're totally worth having around the studio. They're pretty robust and don't really need tuning (like a polysynth), so you can just line them up on end in a corner and bust them out when necessary. New Order used an Omni early on (and as Joy Division) but were using...

DIY bass trap question
I was searching for rockwool on Ebay and found that most of the stuff for sale there is panels scored into 1.5" cubes for hydroponic growing purposes. I was wondering if a bass trap made with this stuff would be effective? I know that's not very thick but my idea was to make a cheap ASC Tubetrap sty...
