tascam mx80 mic mixer (2x8)

Anybody ever use one? I picked it up a college surplus auction for 40 bucks. ($5 dllrs a channel!) And it seems to work pretty well. Obviously not the be all end all in terms of fidelity, but whatever it sounds cool to me. If anyone does have one, how do you get phantom power into the thing? any tip...

be sure to check craigslist...I picked up a middle atlantic desk, about 6ft by 30 odd inches deep, with a rolling 10 space rack that slides under, for 75 bucks. It's built like a tank. not the prettiest thing, but very functional.

I've been amp shopping for a few months. If you want never ending clean headroom, a fender twin is the way to go. The '72+ twins can be had for 500-800. 100 watts. It gets just silly loud without distortion. I thought this is what I wanted, but after trying out a few, it was just too much. A 40 watt...

Mod 828mk2 or get a Duet? Or good A/D?

Hello, I want to upgrade my signal path a little bit. I currently have an MOTU 828mk2 as the center piece of my home set up. I don't normally track more than 2-3 sources at a time, but I like the flexible I/O of the 828, as I can keep all my synths and pres plugged in, no need for a patch bay. so im...

Ever go back to old projects? This one is circa 2001.

I was 19 at the time, using some pretty horrendous gear in a pretty horrendous manner. This was recorded using one of the very first 16-bit USB interfaces on the market, into Cakewalk Sonar 2. Song and performance by a good friend of mine, Raul Picaporte. We decided 7 years later that the project th...

or try the Dakota Hotel, on Post st. a couple of blocks from Union Sq. and a BART station. fairly cheap, private rooms with private baths. Old building though, and the beds aren't pillow top hehe. but it's cheap and centrally located.

Or learn the words backwards, sing them, flip the tape and listen to yourself sing like monster with a speech problem. a hee hee hee....ahh i love my four track. But won't it sound best if played back at it'...

reaper-definitely an amazing accomplishment. but i'm not a fan of the interface, it's too much like Sonar or Sony Vegas. I use digital performer, love the way it's laid out and the depth of the program. reaper still feels a little rough around the edges to me, but ill still give it a retry when it c...
