thanks to this thread i have bought new drum heads, ceiling fan pull chain, and have re professed my love to my already much loved lighter drums sticks.

who said your GJ mics had to be matched? matching makes the stereo image more 'naked'. unmatching gives you stereo spread with some character. indeed, i used a figure 8 ribbon overhead, and a cardioid LDC off to the side of the floor tom once for Glyn Johns-ish setup and the stereo image sounded am...

i like the acoustic on the far right next to the mandolin. thanks RefD, i took a course at a local woodworking shop and built that when i was 16, it's based on a martin 000 series acoustic, and it's got a real sweet balanced tone to it, great for recording. and indeed my space is a lot of fun to wo...

What's the four string thing in front of the banjo? Looks cool. it's called a dulcietar, made by bill neely in damascus virginia. it's tuned and fretted like a dulcimer (DADD) but flipped upsidedown and built more like a mandolin with a long neck, so you can do all sorts of craziness that you could...
