Re: Converting old Audio-Technica handheld wireless to XLR ouput
"Capsule based on the classic AT4033 studio microphone" according to the Audio Technica webpage. OK. I guess it is not the exact same capsule, but something similar. Anyways, I'd like to figure out a way to interface with the capsule. I'm afraid I don't know anyone that might have the schematics. Bu...

Converting old Audio-Technica handheld wireless to XLR ouput
Hi, I just got hold of a bunch of audio-technika AEW-T3300 (using the same capsule as the AT4033) and AEW-T4100 (I think dynamic) I thought I'd try and repurpose the capsules, either by just making an XLR input, or perhaps moving the capsules to a new body. Any sort of advice would be greatly apprec...

I know I have seen plans for a clone of the ProAc Studio 100. There's a thread here: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/geekslutz-forum/372432-diy-monitor-pro-ac-studio-100-a.html but google might give you more results. I think this (the original that is, I haven't heard the clone) is an exeptionally g...

rattle in Sennheiser e904. New diaphragm?
Hi, I have a Sennheiser e904 that makes a rattle whenever the drum is struck.
I'm guessing I have to replace the diaphragm, but sennheiser does not carry a replacement. Any suggestions?
It doesn't have to sound identical to original, as long as it sounds good in the end.

Royer MXL 2001 mod - alternative to the switchcraft A5M?
Hi, I have been looking all over, and can't seem to find anywhere that will ship the Switchcraft A5M to Norway for a reasonable price, nor a local dealer that carries them. Very frustrating, as this is the only part I'm missing right now... Is there any other part that will fit for the 5 pin XLR ins...

noisy QUAD 520f (recap?)
I just bought this QUAD 520f off ebay. The noise floor is unexpectedly high, so I suspect this is a capacitor issue. The noise is equal in both channels, completely dependant on the level of gain in the amp, and it goes quiet when disconnected from the input. I have checked all my cables, and everyt...

Re: which transformer for my royer mod?
I have looked around on different forums a bit, and found that the royer mxl 2001 mod can be done with transformers from Jensen, Cinemag, Lundahl or Sowter. I realize the Jensen is better than the Cinemag, but how does lundahl and Sowter compare? Why do you think that? I think the mod can be perfor...

yeh, low noise equivialents would be great, if I knew how to pick the right ones. There's no scematic available for the unit, but I guess I could draw one up myself if I get the time for it... I realize that changing components may alter the sound as well as getting rid of the noise, but I'm absolut...

ok, I'll look into changing the resistors. I have however seen loads of gear using these 'regular' resistors, so I'm sure that's not the main source of the problem There isn't any audible difference between using battery and wall-wart. I don't have a battery around at the moment, so I can't measure ...

I'm on a degree course of a sound technology course myself. We had a module called audio equipment maintainance. Our assessment was building a 4 band eq and doing a full set of tests on it (freq response, noise floor dynamic range etc.), as well as an exam. And we had our cable soldering skills asse...
