What kind of room are you mixing in?

Maybe you got such a good deal because there is something wrong with it?

I would just buy another. You could probably pick one up for cheap that is sitting on some recording studios old gear shelf.

Having the bass live in the room can definitly be a plus. If you work to hard at isolation tgen you are going to loose the live feel. This requires a good band and good initial sounds to make work. If your band isn't good it's probably goung to show even more this way.

It took me about 100 times of accidentally hitting my Coles mic with 48v before it finally went.

My go to guitar is a Standard. Very versatile in the recording studio.

My studio has a few drum rooms. The biggest being the warehouse in the back. Sounds killer recording drums. Large very controllable sound.

My old Tascam 424 made decent recordings......for a cassette 4 track.

We had a Pro VLA at my old recording studio and never really cared for it. Sounded lifeless, but thats just me. It was ok when recording bass.
