How do you go ethernet into your macbook pro? Mine only has thunderbolt ports.Nick Sevilla wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 4:59 pmIf / when you don upgrade, I recommend ethernet based audio interfaces.
I am using Focusrite RedNet2 with Dante. Amazing. And I still can use my old 2008 Mac Pro with it, and my new MacBook Pro 2019, together.

PCI expansion chassis for RME interface?
Hi All! My 2007 Mac Pro is really on it's last legs now. I have a new-ish MacBook Pro that totally smokes it in a number of ways, BUT my interface (RME Multiface II) connects to a PCI/PCIe card via Firewire Cable and my laptop obviously doesn't have that (It's thunderbolt only). Has anyone used an e...

Re: ASCAP or BMI and why?
When I was considering this 25ish years ago, my father told me ASCAP was better for composers and BMI was better for songwriters, so I went with ASCAP. He was likely basing that off of some 1950s/60s ideas though. I don't know if it REALLY matters now.

Re: EQ in line of speaker cables?
"I had them installed near the room corners with the angle of the speakers facing the corners" if I'm not mistaken, this would likely introduce comb filtering/phase cancellation and would affect lower frequency energy more than high end... Interesting. I was thinking of it like how some bass cabine...

Re: Depth of Field and Recording Levels
I get this with Congas a lot. That thumpiness really starts to feel like they're taking over and that threshold between being present and overpowering becomes a fine line. A couple thing I do sometimes: Use a more sensitive LDC from farther away. I've got a c12 imitation that picks up EVERYTHING so ...

Re: EQ in line of speaker cables?
Totally possible, and it's often done in passive speaker crossovers. Bear in mind that it's cut only, no boost. Is this a thing that I could buy cheaply, or would I need to make it? I'm imagining now basically like a guitar tone knob, but ideally I would have something graphic. I see some passive E...

EQ in line of speaker cables?
This is probably a stupid question but maybe there's an answer i haven't considered... Is there a way to EQ a signal between an amp and speaker? Here's my situation (and it has nothing to do with recording): I've got a stereo system that has 2 different "Zones" speaker outs, but you can only EQ Zone...

Re: Chairs?
I've got a bungee style chair that I swiped from my wife 10 years ago (she wasnt really using it). Its the only chair where I can sit in it all day and never ever get back pain. Been meaning to look up the brand anyway because our kids need some desk chairs so this is a perfect excuse... looks like ...

Interesting! I didnt even consider that. I found out a friend has a nice component tape deck in our lockout space that I can borrow. I think I'll just grab that and return this thing.

Re: Cassette headphone out shorting...
So what's the exact model of tape player causing the problem? Any idea when it was manufactured? The brand is Jensen at the model looks to be MCR-100. Its brand new so this may be the issue. It was cheap as shit so I'm guessing QC out the factory isn't the best. What you're describing sounds like t...

Re: Cassette headphone out shorting...
Odds are there's a weirdness to the way the TRS & 2 TS are wired. If you have a meter that can check continuity, figure out how everything connects to every other thing. I would definitely be suspicious of the Y connector above all else. It works fine with, say, my phone or ipad. Also I tried out 2...

Re: Cassette headphone out shorting...
Have you tried using the DAW/Interface inputs with something else? Does the DAW/Interface have level adjustment? Impedance adjustment? A phase switch? A mono switch? A ground reverse or lift switch? A level switch? My first guess would be the output of the deck is too hot; turn the output down to 0...

Cassette headphone out shorting...
Hey All! Riddle me this if you can... Just received a tabletop cassette player to transfer the box of cassettes I found to digital. When I plug headphones (TRS cable) into the headphone out, sounds fine. When I plug in a Y cable with (1) 3.5mm TRS on one end and (2) 1/4" TS on the other end, I get m...
