Re: 4 track cassette recording: random(?) cracks, blips, and cuts
Hey gathernogloss, I own Recursive Delete, and though I'm in Oregon, I'm connected to other technicians around the country and would be glad to help you make a connection if you decide to have the machine repaired. If you're interested in this possibility, fill out my intake form so I can get the de...

Re: simple level control device?
It looks like your Audient interface is a self-contained preamp / audio interface, am I correct? In that case, I'm not sure how you'd put an attenuator in the signal path. If you were running signal through an analog preamp and then into the Audient, you could put an attenuator between them, somethi...

Re: Tape Transfer Options
There's Audio Archiving Services, who are based in Hollywood: https://www.audioarchivingservices.com/ I don't have any direct experience working with them, but I follow them on Instagram and they seem to be real pros, with a resume of work to match. They have equipment for pretty much any format you...

Re: The Tascam 388
As I'd generally just use one track, could I effectively turn this into a 1/4' 2 track machine by panning channel 1 centre, and engaging all the assign and record buttons? Ditto what markjazzbassist wrote - if you only want to record to one or two tracks, the 388 is overkill. The condition of these...

Re: Yamaha mt8x
For anyone in the future reading this, I work on 4-track machines and would be glad to sell you the appropriately-sized belts for the MT8X (or any other machine you might be working on). I'm also interested in acquiring anyone's bad/dead capstan motors, as I may be able to repair them, provided they...

Re: Complete list of Cassette Multi-Track Recorders and Portastudios
My guess is that the Tascam MF-P01 was the last one released; it was announced in January 2002. The date on the service manual for the 424mkIII was May 1999.markjazzbassist wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 6:49 ami believe the last model made was the tascam 414mkIII. they were still being sold in the Aughts.

Great thread! I run a repair business in Portland, Oregon called Recursive Delete Audio/Visual, and my specific focus is repairing / refurbishing / reselling cassette-based multitrack machines, mainly supporting 4-track users in the Pacific Northwest. If anybody sees this thread and needs a machine ...

Carl,
I'm based in Portland, OR and I work on music equipment. I focus mainly on multitrack cassette machines, but I collaborate with a friend on many projects and I bet your Yamaha Rev 7 would be right in his area of expertise. Drop me a DM and I'll get you my contact info!

FS: Black Lion PM8 MKII summing mixer
I'm selling a pair of Black Lion PM8 MKII summing mixers. I used these in my smoke-free home studio for a year and a half. Only selling now because I'm making some changes in my signal chain. The serial numbers on these units are #10 and #40. I've got the user manuals and for at least one of them, t...
