pickup Identification.
I found it to be a '59-'62 Humbucker. The patent number(2737842) on the back is a mis-stamp which was corrected sometime in '62.

Pickup Identification.
I recently purchased a 1981 Guild M80. The XR7 pickups have been replaced with what I was told were P90's, but, after some research, I'm thinking that they are Humbuckers. Are there any sites where I can get some help identifying(find out what year, etc.) the pickups? Also, if anyone can direct me to...

Favorite tunes
The songs that I have up on myspace- www.myspace.com/russellbeach -are the ones that I am the most proud of to date. Some are what I would consider of a pre-production quality. Some are are definitely, as you may hear if you check it out, of the Kitchen recording quality. But all have some really gr...

jet-star bass
One other thing I wanted to note about this bass. The body and neck are one piece. And it has the DeArmond Goldtone Bass humbucking pick-ups. I am amazed at how difficult it can be to pin point an instrument. I had a hard time finding the specifics on an SG I bought a few years back.

jet star
You're right about the DeArmond being a budget line, yet, I talked to a gentleman at the Bass Emporium here in Austin and was told that they just sold a '98 DeArmond for $1500. So, there must be something about this budget line that they did right. The one I'm looking at is in very good condition so...

DeArmond Jet-star bass
I'm in limbo about buying a DeArmond by Guild Jet-star bass. I have been searching to no end for the year this was made. The serial # is s/n8103771. I'v checked the guild, fender and several other sites and haven't found any # that start with "s/n". The closest I came was finding some that start wit...

Learning to use compression
I have skimmed the surface of using compression and now I'm wanting to start really learning about it. The 3 main uses for me will be on vocals, overheads and bass. I want to approach it from the angle of using it in a way that it's not noticeable... if that makes sense. In other words, to apply it ...

live vocal effects
i am curious about how to achieve a decent chorus effect for live shows. something that i would be able to control myself. are there any decent foot pedals out there that are good for vocals? a multi effect perhaps?

sorry so long to respond. i was using the 'mxl990" and a "digital reference" cond mics and they were both going directly to the 2488 from the hosa. the first time i hooked up the 57's, i had a daisy chain(xlr/xlr) and the signal was weak as hell! then i ran the 57 trhu the hosa to the board... just ...
