While I'm sure the Advanced audio mics are great (and I mean that with all sincerity), your post is pushing it a little hard... My apologies for that!!! After, I posted it I thought..."I am not answering an e-mail inquiry but posting on a Forum". I answer so many e-mail inquiries about our micropho...

Re: Multipurpose LDC pair with a vibe? Low end ribbons?
Hi Alex, the CM87 is a class "A" fet microphone with a tranformer coupled output having a U87 like response curve. I increased the headroom of the circuit in the CM87 by 14db over the original U87 while still keeping it class "A" transformer coupled (more musical harmonic distortion when used in hig...

Hello, folks have been getting great results on hip hop and rap vocals with our CM47fet microphone. It has been used recently to record Jennifer Hudson and some other rap artists. It works well in project studio(bedroom) situations where you have to get in close to keep out environmental noises. We ...

Re: MXL 2001 "U87 Front end mod"
Hi Guys, this is completely unecessary!!!! The circuit in the 2001 is just like the original AKG 414eb which has at least 14db more headroom the poor U87. I have some 2.25:1 dual bobbin transformer with bi-metal laminations that we use that are worth $45 each to replace the economy single winding tr...

Re: 460 grounding
Hello, you most likely turned the tube socket inadvertently and broke the wire that goes from pin 2 which the grid of the 6072 to C4. C4 is underneath the circuit board and couples the back plate of the capsule into the grid of the tube. Also, I do not recommend removing the inner screen. This finer...

Hello, the 2200T like the MK319 and the SM7b are cardiod only microphones. Is the MK319 the Mike Joly version or a stock Russian version? I was bringing in the MK319 from Russia several years ago and found them to be inconsistent a really "bright' in the 4-5khz range and I passed on them because I f...

Re: Come, Come - $250 for mic - what would you buy?
Hi Tim, you might want to consider our CM47fet which is very reasonable. You can read the review on our CM47 in the last issue of Tape Op. The CM47fet is OMNI or CARD and in a nice sounding room OMNI quite often yields more consistent results with acoustic guitar. Cheers, Dave Thomas www.aamicrophon...

460 grounding
Hi TIm, yes the grill and body provide the RF and "hum" shielding. The two circuit boards do get connected to case ground via their mounting screws. The screws go through the PCB and connect the PCBs ground traces to the frame. These screws should be tight..but be careful not to over tighten them or...

460 upgrade.
Hi TIm, why don't you try this first which will optimize the current CF output circuit. Remove C6 and C7 and replace C8 with an good 1ufd/400v. A WIMI or any good metal film capacitor will do. I have some 2.2ufd at 400v metal film if you can't find any locally. They fit on the board where C6, C7 and...

Microphone upgrades
Hi Brian, thanks for the KUDOS. Non of this stuff is proprietary except the "BRANDING". We are dealing with electronic discoveries from the the early 1900's and standard electronic principles that were once taught in High School. The magic is in the performance not in the microphone. Some microphone...
