Just assuming that rubber tubing and etc would be more airtight than tape. Gaffers/etc may only slightly dampen the sounds reaching the vents. I guess treble weirdness could occur with some "partial" sealing... The Violet Design Finger mic with the optional "tuning disc" comes to mind. Although not ...

I don't assume that some gaffer tape (or etc) wrapped around the "vent holes" would turn a cardioid mic into an omnidirectional mic, but has anyone tried something similar? A follow-up...: Something a bit interesting! Preamp as Master via S/PDIF. 24b/44.1k session, preamp and PCI sync'd @ 44.1k. PCI software control panel shows sync confirmation. PreOp:

Cascading two (or more) preamps: double-color?
Transients would probably get a bit blurry at higher gain settings.
Without using a DI, I'm guessing mic levels on first, line levels on second.
