AppOp:
Hey, All.
I know that there are smartphone applications to solve "Hey, what song is that playing?".
Anyone come across software for "Has this riff been used before"?
Thanks.
Cheers!

S/PDIF cable v/s coupling adapter?
ConnectOp: Hey, All. I will be linking two 1010LT PCI cards via S/PDIF, both RCA-female. Must I use a S/PDIF cable, or would one of those male-RCA-to-male-RCA couplers be okay? I don't want to degrade the clocking/link signal; but, I'd be okay with less "spaghetti" behind the computer... Thanks. Che...

Non-insert?
Now THAT's funny right there... Good one!
Oh, okay. I thought that the wiring was different when going in/out from a mixer effects-send.
(ground loops and such)
Funny how swapping the TRS-1/4 to stereo-1/8 or the TS-1/4 to RCA changes the product description...
Cheers!

TRS/dual-TS cable hunt
CableOp: I'm attempting to hunt for a (perhaps rare) item...: Has anybody seen a TRS-1/4"-male to dual-TS-1/4"-male assembly that ISN'T an insert cable? Looking to go TRS-stereo out to dual-TS-mono into a 2ch direct box withOUT using any adapters. I wouldn't need anything ridiculous -- just a few fe...

Clearing out -- preamps, mics, guitar stuff, misc
ForSaleOp: Clearing out items that need new homes... --> PreSonus MP20 2ch preamp: $150 Comes with regular (non-Jensen) transformers on each channel. I believe these units to be from the run right after the Jensen's were no longer being offered (dark blue faceplate circa 2000). Each channel has phas...

Omni'd
Just assuming that rubber tubing and etc would be more airtight than tape. Gaffers/etc may only slightly dampen the sounds reaching the vents. I guess treble weirdness could occur with some "partial" sealing... The Violet Design Finger mic with the optional "tuning disc" comes to mind. Although not ...

Rigged card' to omni' conversion?
DIY'Op: Aside from the old Tape Op article about sticking some epoxy in an SM57... I don't assume that some gaffer tape (or etc) wrapped around the "vent holes" would turn a cardioid mic into an omnidirectional mic, but has anyone tried something similar? What (varying) results have occured? Treble ...

S/PDIF follow-up
A follow-up...: Something a bit interesting! Preamp as Master via S/PDIF. 24b/44.1k session, preamp and PCI sync'd @ 44.1k. PCI software control panel shows sync confirmation. Signal chain = mic > preamp > S/PDIF out > PCI S/PDIF in > DAW software. Recorded a guitar idea and made a mixdown .wav and ...

Cascading preamps?
PreOp:
Cascading two (or more) preamps: double-color?
Transients would probably get a bit blurry at higher gain settings.
Without using a DI, I'm guessing mic levels on first, line levels on second.
Anyone attempt?
Thanks.
