Re: Can excessive preamp gain damage ribbon mic?
Most mic preamps I have encountered behave very nonlinearly when cranked to 75 db gain.

Re: Video Overdubbing Software
Yeah you need VLC installed. Just look on youtube, there's a couple vids that show you what to do to get it up and running, it's simple. And you can edit the video track just like audio, apply effects, etc. If your video needs are relatively simple you can probably do everything you need right in R...

Re: Video Overdubbing Software
You can play and edit videos in Reaper just like audio. I fiddled with Reaper. Couldn't get it to work for this. I bought a license right before I gave up on general purpose computers for recording and bought an Alesis HD24XR. So it would be great to use it for this. Do I need a codec or something?...

Video Overdubbing Software
Hi,
Does anyone know of any software that will easily load an MP4 video file and let me add a few passes of audio to it in real time? Could be simply that functionality, or more. I'm willing to pay up to $100 or so.
Windows [7] sic.
Thanks,
ck

Re: Roland SH-101+MoogerFooger MF-102 pedal
Try the LFO out of the pedal into the CV in of the SH 101. This was cool and useful, but "Carrier Out" was cooler. LFO out is half of what the mooger fooger is doing, carrier is the whole thing, basically, as I understand it. Neither did the trick I was trying to figure out which is getting the seq...

Re: Quirky Mastering Situation
Thinking about this more. Every "full range" little tiny speaker is going to have [bass] frequencies (and combos) that freak out its algorithm. I'm looking at you Bose. Is there other shit that sounds like shit in the same way on that speaker?

Roland SH-101 + MoogerFooger MF-102 peda
Hi, Does anyone know any fancier ways I can connect these two gizmos beyond serial audio hookup? SH101MF102IO.jpg I'm looking for a clock source for my SH-101 sequencer so I can have a fast part over a slow oscillator. I'm kindof assuming that's what it does. Can the MF-102 provide clock somehow? If...

Upon closer inspection, with my glasses on, it is a Proteus 1. The 1 does have a very pronounced dangly bit that looked like a 4 to me for quite some time.winky dinglehoffer wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 6:38 pmSo is it a Proteus 4, or is that a typo? I can't find any info on a Proteus 4, and being a fan of E-mu gear, I'm curious.

Hi, Boss DR-5 E-mu Systems Proteus/1-XR Roland D-110 $50 each. $100 for all 3. Please make an offer. I'm going to donate these somewhere if nobody want s them. Re: Best of 2023
It was a great year for Ska. I bought more new music this year than I usually do. I wouldn't really call myself a ska fan, but it is a sound that shaped my life. Fishbone's first new record in forever - My favorite band. (I don't usually even think of them as ska, but this record is very ska. Killer...
