I'm concerned about him, to be honest, because I've always gotten really great service from him via phone and email and he seems to be acting in a very unusual and uncharacteristic manner. After the first difficult email, I decided to take the high road and apologize for what I might have done to up...

Boutique Gear Customer Support

This is sort of a rant and sort of a plea for advice. The plea is what the hell does one do for service of a boutique peice of kit when the gear maker becomes hostile and insulting over minor service issues? I'll save the rant, but in essence the gear maker has decided to take offense that after 13 ...

Re: 460 grounding

I've done the Canadian Audio Apex 460 mod--peluso xfrm, peluso k47 capsule, C8--and I get extremely low output, hum, and noise. I've torn out one layer of mesh and am certain the head basket isn't touching the capsule. I checked and rechecked every solder, wire, ect and can't find anything wrong. I ...

Rode NT1- Peluso CEK 67 Mod

Howdy all. I'm doing my periodic "mod everything" mode and decided to play with my Rode-NT1. I've had this mic since 99 and like it, but hasn't been getting much use as my mic collection has grown. I've always liked this mic but thought I might like it better with an upgraded capsule. I meant to upg...

My thanks to all who have replied. The loose neutral idea is interesting. We have had some problems with a few appliances control panels getting fried. Our dishwasher, for example, had 3 fried contol panels in the past 5 years. We also had a LCD TV circuit board get fried a few weeks ago. I wonder i...

Fridge is more likely--it happens year around.

It also happens regardless of which breaker my gear is connected to and I know I'm on a circuit seperate from the kitchen.

If it is an appliance of some kind kicking on, how would I isolate my gear from the electrical interference caused by appliances?

Intermittent Electrical Hum

Howdy All, I'm not an electrician so I've no idea where to begin with this problem. My humble little recording space in my home suffers from a electronic anomaly which manifests itself two ways. First, it causes my incandescent lamp to dim during these "episodes." Second, if I have a guitar amp on, ...

Capacitors on input transformers

I'm doing a mod on my Chameleon 7602--upgrading the input tranny. The carnhill tranny where it's used in other amps generally has a cap between the 7 and 10 pins. What is that for? I've got the tranny in, I've been playing with putting in caps of various values and materials in and it doesn't seem t...

I installed the tranny without the cap and it sounds pretty good. It sounds great actually.

I fried the cap trying to get it off the circuit board and don't have a local source but I have a variety of caps ordered.

What should I expect to hear with the addition of the cap?

I've got the tranny and am starting the mod. I'm not exactly a genius with regard to electronics so I'm trying to figure out the odd little circuit board on the top of the Chameleon's tranny. It looks like there's a capacitor and a resistor between pins 9 and 6 with pins 7 and 8 and 2 and 3 bridged....

I've ordered the tranny and it is in transit right now. Ordering from the UK wasn't as much a pain as I thought it would be even though the website's checkout failed multiple times so I had to be really persistant.

I may take notes and photos and post my experiences with this mod.

Cheers

Thanks guys. I think I'll take your rec and go with the carnhill. I was hoping to have a US seller. Oh well.

I'll post my results when I get it going.

Chameleon 7602 Input Transformer Mod

Howdy Y'all,

Here's my first post, please be gentle.

I'd like to put a different input tranny on my 7602. I'm looking at Lundahl--LL1538XL, LL1550, or LL1576--because they are in the price range I'm shooting for.

Anybody done a mod of this type and have some suggestions?

Thanks!
