Re: Omni Recommendations For String Band

As you're listening to each take, "mix" by moving players closer / further from the microphone. It's important you find the placement for when they are all playing together a rhythm. Once you find this good balance, as each player does a solo, all they have to do is literally step up to the mic. If...

I can't say I reacted the same way as the previous post, but seriously it's pretty bad that he'd assume that since he hadn't heard of it it wasn't valid. The fact that he's taught a lot of folks great information is really great, but personally if someone showed me a technique and told me it was som...

I've got the loved/hated KRK Rokit 5's, the "Generation 2" ones. It's really nice to have active monitors, and the sound isn't horrible (I often feel like the sound is scooped, so it's easy to get mid-heavy mixes). I think KRK rokit 8s might be pretty nice to work with and don't cost a full month's ...

Snatchman sounds like he's on the right track - I've read a few places saying inputting using the returns of the send/return will bypass the preamps. Give that a try templejazz82! My FSP is out of commission (currently sent out for a repair, after sending it in for repair, getting it back, and reali...

I'm actually wondering the same thing (I'm no help). I have a firestudio project, and I've been looking around trying to see what the best way to connect an external pre through it would be. I had been doing XLR from the external pre to the XLR input of the FSP, but I'm thinking that's basically two...

I guess it's another personal preference thing. . .but I just like my gear clean. I even wash my hands before I play. . .and yes. . .even gigs. . .even rock gigs! -J Oh yeah, I wash my hands before I play, definitely. Can't stand to play with grubby hands. Sometimes I'll take breaks during sessions...

i think ubertar's right. just label them front and back. i don't mind seeing the sideview as it's got the logo there. i do a lot of product photography and honestly they're beautiful photos, which is pretty awesome considering it's a small red box. just labelling them front and back under each, alig...

WTB lower end preamps

I'm looking for external preamps as the ones on my firestudio aren't as nice as they could be. I'm looking for lower end but good sounding preamps. Here are some of the preamps I'm thinking of, but I'm open to others: Groove Tubes Brick FMR Audio RNP (Really Nice Preamp) Art MPA Gold Art Digital MPA...

I just got back from a trip to China. When I was there I bought one of the best acoustic guitars ever played, for a price that works out to around $45 USD. Came free with a ziploc-thin "protective case"! On the two flights home I brought it as a carry-on, and it fit nicely in the overhead compartmen...

Before I knew what reamping was, I always wondered what the bottom two boxes were for too. Astrodan you're not alone! It wasn't until I saw the image large on a computer screen that I realized it was just three views. When that image is small in a magazine or catalog that looks like one mind-bogglin...
