I understand that recording levels and listening volume are different, but when the recording levels, at the loudest I can get them, are very, very quiet, I'm going to have to do something to make them louder. My intention isn't to raise the recording level in order to monitor louder, it's to have u...

I know the mixer application shouldn't affect the signal, except that it's one way I'm able to turn up the levels a bit before it hits Cubase, but yeah it definitely shouldn't be the issue. I didn't have any issues with installing the Firestudio - it was just a pretty standard install, so I can't th...

I'm seeing the level on the individual audio track in Cubase, the overall mix, as as well the waveforms themselves. The waveforms are very, very small. I have to zoom in quite a bit to see something more than just a small bold line (waveforms very, very small). If I record with the levels clipping o...

No luck. In the mixer software itself the level is very low. The audio tracks are by default at 0.0db, and max at 6db, but even when I turn the tracks up to the max the audio in Cubase is still very, very quiet. I searched online pretty extensively and didn't find much that helped. I was looking at ...

There's a "mixer" software that goes before the recording program, so maybe the default is set very quiet. That seems strange to me but I have to check it out, it seems like a definite possibility. Thanks for the idea! The levels in the software are very low, until I crank them up with plugins. The ...

Recording volume issues
I've been reading this forum for a while now and done a lot of searching, but I haven't found and answer to the issue I'm having, so if it's been covered feel free to direct me towards something I may have missed. I've been recording for a few years, but it's only been the past year or so I've been ...

As far as cymbals, I really love how A Customs sound. An 18" A Custom was the first step up I made when breaking out of beginner drum gear, and I still use it in most recordings. I sold my old Sabian B8 Pro (oh yeah, real pro) hi hats and B8 ride, and got Z Custom Mastersound hats and an A Custom ri...

I thought that "the mansion" in the caption of that video sounded familiar, and then I saw your signature and saw that the Bastille is yours. I've had your blog bookmarked forever. I spent a day a few months ago reading about every post on there. I love the details you give. VERY nice song. I was go...

I'm with FBH (though over a year late). I wasn't here to hear the samples, and I'd definitely love to hear them. I've got a VTB-1 that I've used on a variety of sources and I've yet to have it make a sound I didn't like. Many of the reviews say the tube drive around 12:00 is the "sweet spot", and I'...

1990's Blues Version vs. Current Reissue
I've been looking to get a Blues Junior NOS for a bit now, and I finally found a couple people who are selling them. I have two people, each asking for $400. The one person has a 1990's Blues Junior (lacquered tweed as far as I know), and the other has a reissue from 2008, the NOS version, with an u...

I can understand wanting to hear a good amount of high end in the bass. I like to "hear the frets" as I've heard some people put it, when it fits. The "tweaked" examples are just very extreme. I think it'd be a lot better to take the first sounds and add some - and I repeat SOME - high end, around t...

quality control doesn't really exist for MIM Fenders, so try before you buy . Couldn't be more true. I've actually kind of lucked out, and I have a few MIM Fenders (and Squiers even!) that play BEAUTIFULLY. One of them was pure luck, I saw how cheap the Butterscotch Blonde Affinity Tele was online,...

Hey, thanks to both of you for your replies. Noeqplease, I hadn't thought of doing that, making parts a hair louder when the camera is on them...I think if done right it could definitely add a little more interest to the whole thing, having the video actually interact with the sound, as opposed to j...
