For sale here is a super clean example of the coveted GATES 6144 dual limiter. A classic vari-mu design that will also work as dual mono. The VU's can be read at a distance of 2 to 3 miles under the right conditions. The beige color works well with any modern studio decor. This thing sounds amazing....

I'd search eBay for something like an ART Dual MP. It's an affordable dual tube preamp, which also has a line input for each channel so you can crunch vocals (or whatever) on the way in, or after you've recorded them.

I think the real question is, "If I had a Blue Robbie, where the hell would I put it?"
