Man, I remember that song "Regulate" too. I generally hae rap, but I liked that one.
Dog Star isn't that bad. Not that great. Middle of the road rock band with a couple of good songs.

Re: line 6 modeling guitar? yech??
It's no more stupid than sequencers, drum machines, rhodes pianos, synthesizers, electric gutiars, or any other piece of gear for that matter. It makes a sound, USE IT. Every new piece of gear technology that comes around is treated like total crap. Just get the hell over it and find a use for it. Y...

Re: 30-second soundbytes or whole songs?
Depending on the type of music and what exactly is in each song, MP3's can sound just fine at 64Kbps and like total ass at 192 (I've heard both). Anything with a lot of high end especially is hit hard by severe MP3 compression. This seems as good a time as any other to mention Ogg Vorbis. It uses a ...

Re: Recording Amp
The THD Univalve is pretty damn nice too. Throw in a tube, country tone. Throw a different one in, Van Halen. Damn loud too.

Re: Guitar Tones
With a GOOD amp and a GOOD player, it doesn't matter how much distortion there is, they'll come across. You're completely right about the mids though. I love the sound that comes from my amp when I'm done scooping out everything from aboiut 100Hz to about 5k. The problem is, there is no damned way t...

Re: Guitar Tones
Whatever you do, make sure you keep the sound symmetrical. Having a high-end tone on one side and a low-end tone on the other would get damned annoying very quickly. The usual Metal Method(TM) is to do two stereo tracks of the same tone panned about 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, then another straight up ...

Re: Itunes music service
The iTunes service is something that the morons at the labels should have been doing a long f**king time ago. Instead of embracing the technology like EVERYONE ELSE AND THEIR MOTHER, they tried to destroy it. I seriously hope that iTunes does well and wakes these dumbasses up.

Re: Guitar Tones
The second tone is... workable. The first has WAY too much high end. Metal tone is more complex than a standard indie rock tone. Don't believe me? Typical "indie rock" tones are a Strat or Tele through a Twin or some similar combo amp. Generally with a lot of midrange, and not much distortion. Tones...
