Re: Recording quiet cymbals & loud drums?
i think the a's are fine to definetly more quite than k's ... the problem is probly your room, or more accurately the placement within the room... try moving the drums around... the cymbals may stay at about the same level but in the right place in the room youll find the drums to be much louder... ...

Re: UpGRadING MY little HOMe Studio
I like the beta 52 for a lower budget kick mic,,, im sure some will say d112 im not such a fan but i do like the older d12s... As far as mics, i would strongly recommend getting some ribbon mics... If you don't want to "blow your load" so to speak get some beyer m160's the're cheaper than most and t...

Re: Recording Bass "hot"...
with 4:1 compression on a good compressor you should be able to push it into the red, if you want more try more ratio... also,, if you should desire it never hurts to eq if your trying to dismantle a clipping frequency,,, sometimes graphic eq's can be nice for that, but they are rarely the quality o...

Re: Recording Bass "hot"...
more information needed...
are you doing a d. i. or is it a mic off of an amp?
most importantly what kind of compression are we talkin about... I find that method and settings of compression really determine how hot u should push it.

where to find high quality faders
Im working on building my own mixing board one strip at a time... however, ulike some i think the feel of the faders on a board makes a huge difference. It seems like its easier to dial them in if they are heavier because they have slower and therefore more precise movement... If nothing else i just...

Re: suggest a snare drum for me please
hey, i would NOT buy that brass snare by gretsch. For one it was dropped on a lug which sooner or later is going to be a realy pain in the ass for tuning. moreover, if this is your first snare for recording i think its a much better idea to start with a wooden snare... look in used music stores for ...

Re: for the guitarist: does anyone own a G7th Performance Ca
we got a demo for these at the store i work at on the side... they are overpriced pieces of shit. the owner and i commented on the fact that it would take a complete idiot to buy one... don't be an idiot. to me the difference between shubbs and kysers is pretty minimal but i would take either of the...

Re: New! Tube Trap DIY project website
wow, this is brilliant. i have immediately began installing these in all rooms after great success in my drum room... They are so simple to build. affordable acoustic treatment is so long overdue. so often, the "subistitutes" to expensive treatment really fall behind especially at low freqs. With th...
