+1 Sidstation
And also quadraSID is my favourite emulator plug for such things.
If you are feeling hungry for some DIY, here's a whole load of DIY SID info. Also, I have a great Sidstation editor environment for logic if anyone wants it

Sure, I stand corrected. My point is that the net result for someone in my situation is faster workflow but not twice as fast production. When you consider the difference in price, its often a factor of three or four between working on a system that is reasonably fast and one that is the fastest the...

Yes, no and maybe! For my own situation, most of my commercial work gets done in Logic and my point was that having kept several systems from 9.2 right through to intel G5s, the real difference isn't anything performance or quality related, its all workflow. So while Apple and the various third part...

Re: Sorry, another mixing board thread
I ask because there is a several thousand dollar jump between Mackies/more affordable Soundcrafts/Yamahas etc. and Toft/Neotek/Nicer Soundcrafts. I'd offer that this equation pivots on how much work you are expecting the headroom and EQs to perform. Recording a delicate acoustic session to tape mig...

Good points, but dont get sucked into the vortex of upgrade-psychosis! I have kept several mac systems on the go for years, and while there have been genuine improvements made, only a couple have been quantum leaps. If you run a commercial facility then yes, clients will arrive with sessions they ex...

Re: Mixing with vinyl in mind?
If I dump the tracks from my 688 onto Logic and edit from there, will I have "tainted" the analog goodness that the vinyl will provide?.... I also want to know if there are any mixing techniques when you have vinyl in mind. Thanks again! Well now, Logic is just a program, and any sound coloration w...

You pay the owner of the recording, traditionally the record label. A standard licensing deal may feature an advance and a royalty rate to the owner, or sometimes a simple buy-out if its with the artist directly. In your case I would either use material that you can safely clear, or if its such a sm...

Save time by wrapping your head in all of the above. I didn't mean to be unfriendly, just that covering or cupping your ears with these materials will probably speed up your experiment x100, making essential time to remove the transformer from your SM57. Seriously, prepare to be underwhelmed with t...

I disagree. As already mentioned, most of the examples cited are really good recordings with occasional quirks, some not at all related to "fidelity". I don't care about sound quality as it might be measured I say you probably care more than you think, but thankfully nearly all the music we listen t...

To insert time you can do a basic select-all and drag the whole thing to the right, or set the locators bar 1 to x and use an insert time function, there are a few ways to achieve the same thing. Nudging tracks - use the delay parameter on the actual part as mentioned, forget moving the part itself....
