There's a place here in town that has whole reels of classic Hannah Barbara sound effects and soundtracks. I should ask they guy where he got his hands on 'em.

Re: What are You Mixing Down to?
We use an Otari MX-5050 Mk. III, or internally in PT if we're doing the digital thing. There's a DAT machine around somewhere, in case someone really wants it, too.

Re: drone devices/ambient accumulation
as for instruments. i think a hammond organ, harmonium, or pump organ w stops are my favorites for droning out. If you listen to "Heroin" by the VU, you'll notice there's a hammond organ playing the same note for all 6 minutes in the background. Definitely helps give that song it's dark, creepy vib...

Re: Time to be POSITIVE: Who are the quality new artists?
Q and not U and The Black Keys have both made favorable impressions for me. Good ol' Dischord hasn't let me down yet. :) Do you mean Black Eyes? The Black Keys are the two-piece kind of bluesy band. Black Eyes are on Dischord. Oops, yeah, my bad. My fingers are sometimes faster than my brain.

Flaming Lips BGV question
On Pilot Can at the Queer of God, off of Transmissions from the Satellite Heart, can anyone tell me what the effect is on the harmony vocals towards the end of the song? At the very end of the track, you can hear it really well, after the music fades out. It sounds really cool, and piqued my curiosi...

Re: witnessing a recording session
I'm pretty sure this is my first post, and what a great thread to start out in! I'd love to have been at any Smiths session, watching Marr work out all those beautiful multi-guitar parts. And to see the crazy setup for "How soon is now". Other than that, you guys have hit on all my big ones, esp. Ze...
