"resist the impulse to buy anything else until you repeatedly encounter a problem that you find impossible to solve after having exhausted efforts to do so with the equipment you have. " Awesome! I'm going to make up a plaque with that on it. Hang that right over the computer monitor an put a spotli...

I have a C42 matched pair. (with the Pelican case) I really can't hear any difference between the two so I don't worry about which one is better. These mics are nice on so many different things. You will find yourself pulling them out a lot.

One thing RC gives you that a school doesn't is the ability to put together a real resume with working studio experience. You actually become aware of and talk to artists and pro session people in the industry who pay to record. I think that elevates you to a level higher than having to say you got ...

You are placed in a studio as an intern and follow a printed guide that leads you through chapters in "Modern Recording Techniques". Your time in the studio is determined by whenever you are available and the studio is open. You learn set up, signal routing, DAW, etc. But in the end, you really are ...

Looking at equipment and environment is ok. Two people can use the same compressor or eq many different ways. But knowledge, experience, and technique are things that can't be swiped from a visit or two.

Yeah get well soon Chuck!

At 84 he's still gigging. Most people at that age are either six feet under or on their way.

I was wondering exactly the same thing. Big Ben something else or not at all. The reason why is because I set up the 003 as master to a Focusrite 428 pair that has one with the Digital card as slave. I got occasional clicks. I then reversed the arrangement to make the 428 the master. Pristine sound....

Shure Srh440's. They sound good and don't break the bank. You can swap out the wound cord for a straight one by just plugging it in no soldering necessary.

I only bought an iPod, it's 5gen with the video, to listen to pod casts on the subway. I never had one before but I find the iPod is a great way to ignore the beggars and mexican guitar bands that wander into the subway car and ask for change. A couple of times somebody was in front of me and their ...

This particular artist would bring her 2 year old son to her sessions. You know where this is going.. While she was recording, he would pretty much be quiet in the lounge watching a dvd or sleeping in his stroller. But one day, Mom went in to record and his quiet lasted only about one minute before ...
