I agree with that. Remember when their used to be TV/radio repair places? They're gone. man, so true.. I had a wierd experience with that.. My uh, ex-label wanted some fun promo shots so I thought "Hey, let's get an old Radio Repaire Shoppe and have a supermarket trolley with me and all my live gea...

heh, good stories!.. I refer to whichever room my gear finds itself in (sigh, moved back to my parents house this month) as "Computer Graphics".. Last year my brother scored me a mug with a pixellated flamingo in front of a nice 4-colour highway vista, with the words COMPUTER GRAPHICS emblazoned on ...

If you need to automate volume, select an audio track & push "V" on your keyb, as well as "P" for panning. gives you a line superimposed on top of your audio track which you can add vertices / nodes to by right-clicking. You can also automate effects with the "FX Automation.." button at the top-righ...

tierack, just be sure you understand that you'll be 'stuck' at version 6.4 with this setup. not if you're using the digi ASIO drivers, which are totally sweet. (never bothered running PT on my machine - works great in Nuendo though) heh a cheaper source of ADAT is grabbing yourself a nice blackface...

call me crazy, but couldn't you rewire a standard expression pedal with a battery and generate a CV from that? I mean all they are is a fancy potentiometer.. seems totally doable to me pre-first-coffee-of-the-day brain..

totally killer about the cat though, I've never seen one in the flesh down here.

Gear Talk hilarity! (yeah, the John Petrucci video thing)

ok, I may be right in assuming everyone here's seen the John Petrucci (Dream Theatre) overdub thing but if you haven't - prepare to laugh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKMYeXkYcgs (plus three more) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hywld4xFHiM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evTTHS9hwvU http://www.you...

FWIW.. I've been using a 001 with digi's ASIO drivers in Nuendo and it's been puh-retty damn sweet. (actually protools wouldn't even run on my older PC, apparently didn't have enough RAM and it totally freaked out, didn't even bother installing PT when I got my pentium four.. (Nuendo ran fine on eit...

buy the devarahi book. the complete guide to synths. hah, what a book. that was the first synth programming type book I ever read, when I was like 13. From what I remember, it was very useful - he manages to get it non-synth-specific without being too general (though there was a lot of mention of A...

the venerable Prelinger Archive @ http://www.archive.org - just about the bestest thing on the whole internet! free usage and not-too-shabby quality either. I'm working on a new one with pretty heavy (microscopic) edits on some Soundies from the late 40s / early 50s.. uh, I kinda wrote this "my vers...

That orchestral sound that is a preset on many synths in the eighties. You can hear it in the miami vice theme. man, you'd better not be getting down on ORCH5 - the story behind that is a good one! http://homepage.mac.com/rfink1913/FileSharing1.html heh man.. there's a half-finished track of mine w...
