granted i sell them for a living so take that into account. Cool! Let me ask you a question ... how many individually addressable outputs does the thing have? It's not entirely clear from the specs I've found online. I see it has a monitor and headphone out. Can I route a separate mix to the headph...

Low Budget Interfaces: Tascam us-1800
I have a pretty nice Alesis multimix-16 firewire that I use to track my band, however, we also use it to run our shows, and as a result it's 99% of the time in our rehearsal space or packed up with our crap for a gig. I want to get something similar to run my home studio, which is presently just a t...

Re: Help me get weird and/or clean THWACKING drums sounds
when I stand behind the kit well it is being played they sound fantastic. Big killing thwacks of thunder. Hurray! *Puts up a Mic*...*THUD THUD THUD*. WHERE ARE MY THWAKS OF THUNDER! I too am a bit of a "hack" ... so take this with a grain of salt, because I know there are bona-fide studio guys in t...

it seems like anything with a gain knob is affected ... so as I mentioned ... powered monitors, preamps, my interface, my mixing board, etc. My physics knowledge is weak. Is there an way to build an RF signal blocking device? The thought had occurred to hit the home depot and try to find something l...

Mitigating RF interference?
I'm kinda going nuts. For years, my studio was in a downstairs home office, while I worked on getting my real studio space (a renovated upstairs spare bedroom) outfitted. Now I've moved my stuff in and the space sounds great, but ... *everything* with a wire has become an antenna. It's insane. My fi...

Radio Shack 80's "electronic reverb", is seriously the most crappy sounding thing I think probably in the history of the world. this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4503682/bootyquake/shackverb.jpg will overdrive if you even look at it funny. hisses, whines, "reverb" is the noisiest, shittiest sounding sla...

The Lawrence Welk Show was always an enigma to me. Still is in some ways. I first encountered it in the 80's when they started airing reruns of it before Dr. Who on PBS on Saturday nights. Even my parents thought it was lame. My grandparents may have watched it, but I never was around when they did....

... The Master Musicians of Bukkake? You sir, have made me actually Roll on the Floor Laughing. I thought for a minute ... "this might be a real thing", and then I thought "how can I tell?" ... and I stopped myself just shy of putting it in google. For good reason, I imagine. If that's a real band:...

Re: music for adults that doesn't suck?
I don't really know what's going on that's new and interesting. Any thoughts? Suggestions? There's gotta be more out there Your point regarding marketing is insightful. The post war baby boom created a huge mass market that has been catered to since they were infants. So if you're looking for inter...

I've never heard of the "CM Automation FX100 MIDI Fader Pack", and google curiously doesn't turn up much but a link back to this forum post. It sort of sounds like it might be a bunch of knobs and faders in a box with a midi out ... which is something I've been looking for. Can you provide some info...

... Ableton is so far ahead it's silly and for better or worse, PT is what most people seem to "need". Well that's not exactly what I meant by "cutting edge". I don't think I'd ever choose to track my band into Ableton, or do scoring work with it, or write orchestrations, etc. I would use the hell ...

I doubt they'll completely abandon it. Software drives hardware sales, and Apple knows this. You get an iPad, download the hobbled garageband app for like $5 or whatever, outgrow that, and want to run the real GarageBand, and you buy a mac mini. By the time you outgrow that you've got a pile of keyb...
