I've been recording my friend's karaoke gigs on my digital 16-track recently. They were recorded from the soundboard, mostly in mono (RCA->1/8" cord with 1/4" adapter). After I got paid for the first gig, i bought a few RCA->1/4" adapters so I could use regular RCA cords to record in stereo. It work...

Re: George Martin disses Ringo
One could choose to see Ringo's drum overdubbing as part of his talents as a drummer. Maybe, specifically, because he couldn't play some drum parts in real-time, he, like the rest of the bend, found cool new ways to create music in the studio. "A Day In the Life" for sure, and the extra hi hats on ...

when buying tapes, dont buy the cheapest ones. stick to maxell or TDK. around here, maxell UR's are the only ones available and theyre pretty good. and get a decent 2track tape deck to bounce to. I do it all the time. sometimes its a hassle but its well worth bouncing and keeping the original tracks...

Before live looping was even invented. Not sure if this thing was real or not, but just check him playing. Amazing.
Les Paul was the Leonardo De Vinci of electric music.

the album is finally finished! go to the myspace to hear some of the tracks, and if you feel compelled to do so, buy the album. one note: my drums *were* sound replaced or something of the like, but i think it couldve been better. maybe a little echo couldve fixed it. way too dry and prissy. but wha...

Since it's technically on-topic, what exactly is happening during Zep's 'How Many More Times' during the bowing section where you can hear parts of another song/take pretty clearly? This has to be an entry level question but sorry, I just want to know what it is..... If you listen to enough zep, yo...

I did just this once (Audition to PTLE), but strangely only have a very vague memory of how I did it, I guess because in the end I didn't redo the mix in PTLE as I was intending. Ah well. Anyway - Audition 2 adds a load of file/track export options over Audition 1.5 - you can just choose to export ...

boy you sound like you're a lot of fun to play with. My tirade about drummers and clicks was only half tongue-in-cheek. The worst recording experiences I've had have been with drummers who couldn't keep time and who had not practiced with a metronome. The most incompetent, ass-sucking drummer I've ...
