Re: DIY Guitar Cabinets
I was just thinking of something like this last night. I have an old bass amp with a single 12" speaker (yamaha). The electronics have a problem and I have not fixed it (not really sure that it is worth the time on this thing). My last thought was to use the speaker and the cabinet (open back) with ...

Re: video link in studio
I have been thinking about this myself. I am keeping an eye out for a cheap camera and monitor. I have the same situation. Depending on the length of the cable run, the composite video signal from the camera might need to be modulated into RF. Time will tell. The best test is getting something in pl...

Re: Another wiring question: XLR to rca
So in an XLR to RCA cable do you float the negative lead on the RCA end (only use hot and ground) or do you tie it to ground? I have been floating it when I need to do this. I was just wondering what others are doing.

Re: Anybody Work On Anything Cool Tonight?
Well I spent the evening setting up my new studio area in the basement. I need to start soldering cables next. The best part was passing CD audio through my new PM-2000 console so we had music to work with. I am shooting for Aug. 1st as a mostly finished installation date. Then I plan to start recor...

Boulder/Denver Area
Hey,
I will be in the Boulder/Denver area during the week of July 7th. I am looking for great places to eat, good music to hear, and cool stores to gear hunt in. Any studios in the area that would not mind giving a tour and talking about recording would be great as well.
Thanks,
jason

I have a pair of the 20/20 BAS monitors. Just wondering how the TR8's sound next to the 20/20 BAS's.

Re: Blue Baby Bottle? Does it sound good?
The baby bottle is not a general use mic. I have had very good results on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and as a room mic for harmonica/fender Blues Jr. combo. I like it but that is because it does not sound like the other microphones I own. FWIW, the BB is very different sounding from the 4050!...

Re: Shure 315
Gravy Boat - use a mic preamp that has a lot of gain and a clean signal path. My Millennia Media HV-3 does a nice job of this. I have an SM-33 ribbon that has been fun to work with.

Re: MIC CHAINs that werk ril goood
I love a TLM-103 into my Peavey VMP-2 tube mic pre. For smooth and full sounding vocals. The MXL 2001 with Royer/tapeOp mod into my HV-3 sounds great as well. Another combo I have been playing with is an SM-7 or M-88 into my Sytek. I have two channels with Burr Browns and two stock. I have had reall...

Re: PreAmps under $1000
I have two channels stock and two with the burr brown opamps in my Sytek. A great unit (four total channels for well under 1,000). If you are currently looking to move up from mackie type mic preamps give it a try.
