I know, I listen to it all the time! Since our recording studio fire, I haven't engineered any real sessions in over 2 months, so I dug up some old music, and am listening all in the car again!

Latest find: Booker T. Jones, Road From Memphis (2011).

Yes. I have been on a personal rant against auto-tune for the last few years. We were going to put a sign in the control room "NO AUTOTUNE" before we had a fire in the other half of the building.

I love it! Nice vid.

One of my favorite amps in the studio right now is a Peavey Backstage plus. It isn't right for everything, but for that tight, funky, janky sound, it's AWESOME! I call it my secret weapon.

Where do you place a mono overhead? Was just wondering this yesterday... I was placing one overhead over the drummers head about 6-9 inches, pointed at the snare...

I don't know about other models, but our A-800 MKIII has 2 outputs. In this case, I have thought about recording onto tape, monitoring through output 1 and tracking into PT output 2 via the Mothership

Is this a viable option?

Re: Client wants to "part ways", won't pay for mas

Apology made. I'm glad my assumptions were incorrect. I don't know if people are generally geared toward negative responses here. I'll speak for myself and say that the way your original post was written really made me think you were a clueless dude with major attitude. You seemed to offer all the ...

Unless you have at track record that proceeds you, having someone hear a sample of your work is not out of the ordinary. It's also common for any business to get a financial commitment (50%) deposit before any work would begin. Seems there was a communication break down in that there was no deposit...

Re: Client wants to "part ways", won't pay for mas

Pardon me for getting back on topic. Thank you. First off, I do think that I made the mistake of not emailing him back, and that it is expected that once there is a sample, it should be sent to client. Got it. I'd like to chalk it up to a learning experience. I did not master these tracks, but the ...

I used to keep everything and "we'll decide later" was my motto. After two records with my band, and recording a number of other projects, nothing makes me smile more than a good tone and performance right off the bat. If it doesn't sound good, I'm going to record over it. +1 on reading that Jack Wh...
