Not sure $3500 is going to get you 10 days with most guys people are talking about here, but maybe. In addition to some of the names already mentioned... Andrew Schneider in NYC. Kyle Spence (from Harvey Milk) in Athens. Kevin Ratterman in Louisville. All do great -- and pretty different -- work. If...

Love that Joel post. Don Fury! Scissorfight! (Players Club!) I try to avoid doing trigger-core kind of records. I like using actual drum sounds, not doing any reamping... basically I try to apply traditional engineering to make big, gnarly sounding shit. My sessions are often pretty short and not in...

I love KEN Mode, love the sound of their last 2 records -- really dark and roomy and real-sounding. (They just finished tracking a new record with Kurt Ballou, looking forward to that too.) The new Early Graves record is bonkers. Sounds like it too. Recorded by Tim Green here in San Francisco. (and ...

Re: Get hip to this: the "BRAZIL" mic
I just wanted to say, this mic is really cool. Every time I put it up I remember why i like it. It sounds good, it is pretty well made, and it is a unique, hand made piece of gear that I am proud to own. Just a heads up for those of you with faith in hand crafted stuff that is not a zillion dollars...

(sold) Symetrix SX202, modded
Symetrix SX202 half-rack 2-channel mic pre, with Monte McGuire mods . SOLD. I didn't do the mods; the guy I bought it from did. He's an EE and seemed like he knew what was up. In fact, maybe he's on this forum? I've used this for a few years on a bunch of sessions, pretty much anything I've done rec...

Hi Scott! It's a little different capsule than the Alice, but sounds very similar. Slightly noiser, but able to handle LOUD sources much better. I only built a few of these Brazil mics - one guy has a couple of them, uses them on guitar cabinets for tour sound. Oh rad, hey Scott! Thanks for the cor...
