entertaining offers: Schumann, EH, Xotic Effects
Schumann Lion . I've heard talk about Joel Schumann taking orders again since he stopped making pedals, but so far, no go. This pedal is in great condition, and as far as I'm concerned, is a collector's piece. A Schumann PLL just went on ebay for about $750. I don't expect to get anywhere near that...

should I buy or not: hohner 50 watt tube pa head for $100
So I found this guy who's selling one. Runs off of 6l6 tubes, says it hasn't been touched for 10 years. He's a respectable guy, and offered me 15 days to return it if it doesn't work. This would be used in a live situation. pros: would be cool for vocals/conversion into a guitar amp. would like to t...

in the early 90s i saw a Boss Spectrum in a pawn shop for $40 but thought nothing of it. what does it sound like? what does it even do? the spectrum in short is a sort of booster for certain frequencies or exciter... a "de-muddifier" so to speak. Lotsa people used to use 'em on Fender Rhodes.[/list...

schumann pll?
I know learned after calling Maindrag Music that the guy (forgot his name!) isn't making them any more, and after spending afternoons exhaustively searching the internet for more information on this effect, I still haven't heard how it sounds ! I hope that one day he gets back into the business, as ...

Re: Nov/Dec TapeOp
I got mine last week as well.
I'm not really fond of synths, either (organs are so much cooler!), but I really like that interview with Mark Bingham.

Re: recording music man bass. pain in the ass?
Most definitely, he had a sunburst one that appeared in the video for "just". Listen to record closely---some of the tones have a rubbery sort of sound that you can't get in a P. It may be on Pablo Honey as well. However, he used the Precision more often then not, and I'm pretty sure he stopped usin...

I'm not experienced with recording with them, but I really like the warmer sounds you can get out of them.
Too many people think of them as funk instruments---to me, its kind of like a Precision but with more growl.
Colin Greenwood used them a lot on the Bends... I love his tone.
