Hey! And we've flown in, at great expense, (triple scale, no less, ladies and gentlemen), Steve Gad's clone to play the out-chorus on this song...He's really outa-site, in spite of the fact that the click track is totally irrelevant to what he's doing now. I am listening to the click, yes I'm suffe...

I kind of poo-poo'ed Garage Band when Apple first announced it, because the mac users that were telling me about it seemed to think Apple had just invented recording directly to computer! I tried to explain that I had been doing just that with Pro Tools for a few years, but I don't think it sank in....

I need to take another listen to the *bonus* CD that comes with Ta Det Lugnt. I seem to remember a more jazzy *Traffic/ Canterbury Scene* type sound. BTW- The way I heard Dungen was through www.davidbyrne.com . At the beggining of the summer he had a great playlist of all psych related stuff. Kerry M

Headphone Burn - In?
I tried searching to see if I could find previous threads about this claim. Has no one done the simple experiment of comparing a new pair to a *burned in* pair of phones? I can find any number of of accounts of "these headphones sounded different after X period of time", but no common sense comparis...

Brilliant guitar sounds on that record. I was surprised that he did it in ProTools, I was convinced it was tape... Was it Pro Tools? I seem to remember reading it was tracked even more low tech than that. Some unspecified digital recorder. There was a piece in Guitar Player recently. I was sure the...

Is there a cool theater that can host our main panels and is it affordable (non-union - non clear channel), available, and respectable? The places that come to mind on this are the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA, and the Somerville Theatre. http://www.regenttheatre.com/ http://www.somervilletheatr...

I have yet to try the ones you jam into your ears (Etymotic ER6, Shure E2C, etc.), but they have their fans. As far as using them at the gym, there might problems with mechanical noise from jostling the cord. I know there was thread about them on the *old* board that also contained some fascinating ...

Re: Mics and mic set up on old jazz records
A while back I heard an interview with Al Kooper, talking about how the evolution and availability of high quality german microphones made the whole hi-fi thing possible. I know he was teaching a course at Berklee touching on this. Don't know if he has anything in print with specifics.

I can think of plenty of bands named after dildos...rhythm ranch wrote:(although, naming your band after a dildo does earn a certain amount of respect ).

Re: 414 'bubbling' - what causes this?
Is it possibly some kind of corrosion from moisture, maybe from miking a wind/brass instrument or even from a vocalists breath. Though it would have to be pretty bad breath I imagine.
Oh, and did you email the seller to ask? Usually a good place to start.

Re: buttholes of the day; MONSTER CABLE
But I'll tell you, there is NO difference in audio quality between esoteric speaker cable that costs umpteen million dollars a foot and the stuff you get at the hardware store for $0.16 a foot. I have to disagree. I can hear the difference between say a ProCo mic cable and Mogami, Canare or certain...

Re: recording out of my car
Would PZMs be less prone to wind noise? Or even work? I was thinking a PZM on a small square of plywood. A couple of coat hangars to rig it under your car.

Fourier analysis of Hard Day's Night chord, Jimi In A Box
Anyone happen to see the Jan. 05 issue of Guitar Player? A Fourier analysis of the Hard Day's Night chord, and an article about Digitech's upcoming Jimi In A Box DSP pedal. The Fourier article on it's own is interesting, but in combination with the Jimi In A Box article gave me a case of the wim wam...
