I always try and do this when mastering audio, most of the time I am using the Sontec custom eq or the Massive Passive so there is not so much visual candy other than the hardware itself, which is helpful. I think the better your room is the less inclination to use analysis or graphs etc. cheers Bar...

If there is it would be nonsense. As a room can be any dimension, volume and of any shape and of any surface materials you need to start with a base/known reference. That is essentially as close to linear response as possible within the realms of practicality. Additionally... ideally with an even as...

On a low end tape deck there will be all manner of non linearity on both record and repro as mentioned crosstalk could be part of the issue (as could differences between channels that affect relative channel phase). It stands to reason that the image can collapse significantly using essentially low ...

Nothing specific to add regarding an omni....but worth knowing that most microphone polar responses change with frequency and start becoming omni-directional in the low end of the spectrum. (even cardioids)

Typically it would be best to sum the low level signal as opposed the high level signal emanating from the power amplifier. In my wn instance even though Nuendo does not have a mono button on the master out (at least independent of Control Room window which I do not use) you can make the stereo out ...

When recording something a little unusual I used to walk around the room until I heard what I felt was the right balance and then place a mic in that position (sometimes I would up one ear and focus on that open ear only pointed at the instrument. Possibly a secondary mic at mirror image (if the roo...

Maintaining mono compatibility in your music productions
Ultimately a decision for the producer/engineer, a compromise between technical goals and production goals. Hope it is of interest.

No perceptible delay the audio travels at the speed of light down the cable.
The only delay is between mic'd sound source and headphones.
