Sorry, this computer was logged into my friend's account. I had him delete my post.

Anyway, thanks for the info, 0-it-hz.

I had a question about fabric for bass traps, but I think I'll start another post...

Behringer 8024 RTA

I've been asked to mix two records for a friend at his basement studio. The recordings sounds great and he has some nice gear, but the room is really small and very boomy sounding. This is a temporary setup for him and he won't want to do any sort of treatment to the room, and he has a Behringer 802...

My console doesn't have phase reverse. I run my tape deck to the console via unbalanced 1/4", can I flip the phase on a channel by making a cable that flips the tip and sleeve?

This used to happen to my Porta One on occasion. To fix it I had to take the back panel off and rotate the wheel under the transport. I think it's connected to the motor by a belt. It's been a while. This used to drop the heads, then everything worked fine again.

Let me know how it goes...

Link to manuals site?

A while back someone here posted a link to a website with a load of .pdf manuals, anyone have that link again? I think maybe it was a school's website or something. Thanks.

Hitting really hard

Sometimes, when mixing, I like the sound of turning the gain all the way up on a channel, and lowering the fader to a managable level. The clip light stays solid whenever there's signal. Would you see any problem with doing this? I mean causing damage to my console? I never smelled any smoke...

Chris,

That Home Depot link didn't work for me, but I get what you mean. That flange idea is a good one, thanks very much. I'd love to see the pictures...

PVC Monitor Stands

Anyone have any plans or ideas about building some monitor stands out of PVC pipe and sand? I can work up a quick idea about how to do it, but how would I secure a base for the top onto the PVC pipe? Or maybe you have a better idea...

Mixing compressed & uncompressed signals

I read this article by David Mellor about different ways to use a compressor. One such way he describes (the Compression By Stealth section) is to mix a compressed and uncompressed signal together, minimizing some unwanted elements of heavy compression. I know there has been a few discussions about ...

New power supply for my console?

How much difference do you suppose a new power supply for my A&H System 8 would make? I have the original one, works fine, but have heard about people getting new ones after a while (I guess this one could be near 20 years old by now). Do they start to die like tubes?

Oscillator

I need an oscillator to learn and start calibrating my machines. Also, to print tones to my mixdown tapes. Can anyone suggest one?
