FT: CAPI 1/2" Aluminum Pointer Knob x 8 - 1/4" Sha

Hey folks, I've got some extra CAPI 1/2" aluminum pointer knobs that are made for 1/4" shaft pots. I have a project coming up that will call for the same style knobs, but with the 1/8" shaft. If there's anybody out there with four 1/8" shaft CAPI knobs that they're not using, but could use the 1/4" ...

I wish

The Creamliner does look really awesome, but it's pretty far out of my ballpark. I build my own, so either Lolas or VP28s are gonna rum closer to $700.

fair enough

Well, with that last note in mind, I went ahead and looked for other ways to upgrade the circuit. I pulled the LF353 opamps that were on the input and swapped them for some OPA2134s that I found in my box of ICs. That seems to have helped with clarity in the top end. I figured that it didn't make mu...

Anybody using Lola preamps on their master bus?

Hey Folks, So, I'm trying to decide between CAPI VP28s and Hairball Audio Lolas, for my next purchase. Currently, I'm really interested in all the clips, etc, that I've heard from the Lolas, but I am looking for a pair of modules that I could also run my master bus through, for analog warmth. Folks ...

That seems a little low, per above

So, earlier comments mentioned that this filter is usually set up around 100k. If that's the case, it does seem possible to open the top end(at R12/C14), some, but oscillations would be a concern. I found that schematic, before, but I really couldn't make out much of anything, either. Thanks for loo...

Thanks a ton!

Sounds like I've got some homework! Thanks for all of the info. I don't have the level of test equipment that you mention. So, I'll locate the caps and do the math that you mentioned, to find where it's starting the filtering.

oops

You're right LPF. It's got plenty of bass, and I wouldn't want to mess with that. I don't have a scope, so this may be a step too far. It's sounding good, with the new chips and PSU upgrade.

HPF caps in DBX 166

Hey there! So, I've gone ahead and swapped the VCAs for THAT corp chips and replaced the 5534s with the LME49710 opamps(as usually seem to be recommended). I also bumped up the power filtering caps to 1000uf and put in all new electrolytics, while I was in there. The only other mod that I'd like to ...

WTB: Lindell 6 space 500 rack - $250 shipped

Hey there, I'm looking to get into the 500 series world, and I don't want to get a two or three space rack that I would quickly outgrow. Unfortunately, I don't have the money for a new 6 space rack, but I see the Lindell ones are pretty affordable, even new. Figured I'd see if there was one floating...

makes sense

So, that pretty much makes sense, to me. I'm actually going to get another one of these mics, to be my "tube rewiring guinea pig" mic. I like the two I've already modded, and don't want to risk that money/work I've got into those. When I get the new one, I'm going to try both of these rewiring exper...

well, i haven't done anything, yet

I haven't done anything yet, since I'm still trying to "pre-game" this mod, via here and my head. When folks on the TOMB tell me to be careful, I try and take the advice :D . The mic I'm looking to try this in is the Nady 1050, which is one of the alctron tube mics, with the 9 patterns, switchable o...

Cheers, again!

So, if the rest of the circuit is wired for the pentode circuit(and since this particular mic has a tube socket that is connected by wires, instead of PCB mounted), it seems that all that would be needed to be done is clipping off the wire going to g2, at the board, and use that wire to jumper over ...

Cheers Guys

So, If I'm reading this correctly, I would be connecting pin 1 to pin 6 and pin 8 to pin 4, to make the conversion, in the case of an EF86, which seems to be the most popular tube to use, in these Alctron Chinese condenser mods. Can that be done by simply jumpering, between the solder points, coming...

pin out on triode vs pentode

So, it seems that the only pin that I see going to something that doesn't seem to be in the triode tube schematic(if I'm reading this right), is that pin three seems to be going to something identified as K, which doesn't appear in the triode's schematic. Don't know if that's part of the equation, o...
